You Will Suffer

Kagome sat on the floor with a blank look across her face. She was drowning, drowning in a sea of white lace. The people had long gone, and she, she was all that was left. The best man, the groom, the maid of honor, the guests…they were all gone. There was no one left.

Surrounded by white flowers and ribbon, she couldn’t think. In this wintery, blustery, scene, she was frozen. Nothing, feeling nothing. She couldn't she explain how this had happened.

That morning, she had woken up Kagome Higurashi. She had expected, that by sundown, she would have become Kagome Taisho. Nothing had happened, nothing she expected, because he hadn’t shown up. He left her there, waiting for him, drowning and freezing to death in a sea of white. It seems that she wasn’t the proper material for a wife after all. The planning, all of the planning had gone to nothing, months of it. Months of her life, left to nothing. Her life, wasted on this superficially expected thing. They expected her to be married, so when he’d asked, she’d said yes. She never knew that it would -- could turn out like this. It was the happiest day of her life, and now, the worst. She’d woken up the happiest woman in the world, soon to be Mrs. Taisho. Now, however, it was sundown and she was still Kagome Higurashi.

The thought hit her, that now, no one would want her. No one would look at her and see a beautiful woman. They would see the girl that Taisho-Sama did not want. They would see the girl that must have something wrong with her, otherwise, Taisho-Sama wouldn’t have left her standing there, waiting for him. One thousand people showed up for the wedding, a contract between lovers, a promise. The only thing that they got, was a furious maid of honor telling them to get out, the show is over, everything, is over. Life, love, happiness, all gone. This was the moment that Kagome Higurashi realized that she would be alone, for the rest of her life. She would be alone. There would be no small hand prints on the walls, nor would there be a warm body next to hers in bed every night.

As Kagome realized this, she broke. Spring came and everything melted. Tears, unbidden, but not unwelcome, came flooding down. Strangled sobs tore their way through her throat as she ripped the veil from her hair and began pulling the diamond rose clips from their perfect places, they hit the floor along with the jeweled bobby pins. Her long, curled hair created a dark pool around her, and she clawed at the lace on her dress. Piece-by-piece she removed the disgusting thing. Her garter hit the floor along with the rest of it, her high heeled shoes flew across the room.

With strength that she didn’t know she had, she stood up and walked, row-by-row to the back of the room, pulling the ribbons and flowers along with her. She put everything into a pile, her dress, garter, shoes, bobby pins, clips, veil, flowers, and all of the ribbons. Everything would burn, burn the way he’d burned her. She would destroy him in the only way she knew how. By the time she was done with him, no one would have another honorable thing to say about him. Yes, she could just see herself, the revenge bringer, burying him. Taisho wouldn’t have a person left in the world, he was going to suffer.

A/N : This idea just sort of came into my head. Reviews? I think that would be GREAT! =]
