It's All About the Materials by BlueHeavensAngel

Amidst the Rubble

This was my entry for the second anniversary for dokuga_contest on livejournal.  I didn't realize until now that I forgot to post it here.  Ooops. Well I hope you like it.  Enjoy!

Kagome continued meandering lazily through the aisles of the clothing store wishing that the week would be over.  Looking at a dress she huffed irritably before putting it back.   Why did this have to be so gosh darn hard?  She didn’t think there was anything wrong with what she was wearing.  Throwing out all her clothes seemed a tad extreme in her opinion.

It had been an ordinary exhausting day of work.  Working retail was not her ideal job, but it paid the bills.  The customers seemed particularly nitpicky that day, as she hadn’t gotten a moments peace.  Customers came up left and right asking for the most ridiculous things.  A 3G Calculator?  Really?  Kagome was starting to wonder if anyone was ever going to ask for something that actually existed!

After such a grueling day Kagome just wanted to take a nice bath and go to sleep.  Unfortunately, it was not to be.  She had just passed the threshold of her apartment when her friends Sango and Miroku bombarded her.  A handsome man she didn’t recognize stood in her living room behind them.

Kagome quickly learned that her friends had decided to stage an intervention of sorts.  The unknown man introduced himself as Sesshoumaru Oshiro, counselor to the poorly dressed.  She felt her anger rise, his opinion of her and her state of dress quite obvious through the tone of voice he was using and the look he was giving her. Kagome wanted to just kick him out so she could get her well deserved sleep, but Sango and Miroku were having none of that.  Instead of the blissful evening she had hoped for, Kagome found herself forced to go through all of her clothes, throwing away nearly all of them away, and being subjected to critical analysis of her fashion sense.  It was only once there were no more clothes to look at that she was allowed to sleep.

Early the next morning she found herself quickly ushered to get ready by Sango.  It seemed that no time was to be wasted on revamping her wardrobe.  Prepared for the day and given a credit card with money for new clothes, Kagome was dropped off in the shopping district and told to buy clothes according to the rules they had discussed the night before.

And thus Kagome found herself meandering through department stores wishing she could just be done with the whole ordeal.  Looking at the tag of yet another item, Kagome bit back a groan.  It didn’t matter to her, but if there was one thing she remembered Sesshoumaru saying is was that polyester was bad and to only get cotton.  Something about polyester looking bad.

“Having a difficult time I see,” rumbled a baritone voice behind her.

Startled, Kagome whipped around to see the man who caused her irritation standing right behind her.

“What do you want?  Here to throw some more rules at me about my clothes and tell me how bad I look?”

“On the contrary, it’s not you that looks bad, but your clothes that do,” came his smooth reply.

Kagome looked at him wide eyed, surprised by his comment, as he leaned down until his mouth was next to her ear.

“Perhaps once you find more suitable clothes we can go to a upscale restaurant and afterwards I could help you remove said appropriate clothes.   We wouldn’t want them getting wrinkled after all.”

Blushing from head to toe Kagome felt new incentive to repair her broken wardrobe.  After all, men like Sesshoumaru are hard to find.
