ONLY YOU

The weather seems to reflect the mood of the Gin-Shiro master, gloomy and drizzling. As if the world can understand the heaviness of this one being’s heart. In his hand, gently suspending between two delicates yet equally deadly digits is a single silver locket.

The locket’s design is simple, somehow unattractive by a single glance. But it truly reflects the wearer. By a single glance, she is inelegant, a fatally clumsy creature that prone to trouble just by breathing. But like the locket, a second glance brings out her hidden traits.

Small details can be seen, a small carving of a bird with the backdrop of a crescent moon hanging in the lonely night sky.

A picture depicting him and her and their story…

Like the moon in the sky, he shines brightly among the stars. Yet because of this too, he is alone. And she is like a bird, trapped in a gilded cage, admired yet unappreciated. Social creature that she is, she sought to reach him, through the cage of reality, through the lock of obligation, loyalty, honour and time.

He, who feels at home in the darkness, and she, who savours the day…

How can these two opposites meet?

The impossibility of it all, youkai and human…

Daiyoukai and Miko…

He that hates and she who loves… He that kills and she who saves…

One thing that they have in common is their loneliness. Just as he is feared by the rest, killing any opportunity to find one that can be known as his true friend, she is afraid of becoming too close to those around her, knowing that one day that all she have found in this time will be rip away from her grasp.

That night under the midnight sky, with the fragrance of the world that can only be scent after a shower of raindrops…

He found her alone by the tree, facing the moon and, to his private amusement, addressing the silent silvery crescent in the sky. Curious and wondering of her sanity, he approaches her and startle the little bird with his question; “What ails you, miko?” And thus starts a series of conversation and gives way to an awkward but still nonetheless a relationship.

Every night, when the moon in the sky is the same shape as the one upon his brow, he pay a visit to curious little bird…

There are times he questions his own sanity; did he not hate her kind? What is this with the visits and the questions?

Should he not kill her long time pass?

Yet the thought of her blood running freely between his claws brought a kind of sickness and pain from within him. He could not chase away the nightmare of her glassy gaze, of her cold skin and clammy touch.

No… Death is not his to deliver when it comes to this little bird of his…

His little bird, a name that he fondly summons for her whenever he thought of her…

Yet harsh is the truth, for even a blind man can see how she loves ‘him’, the one that is not him. She follows ‘him’, she care for ‘him’, worry for ‘him’, betray by ‘him’, hurt by ‘him’, laugh at and with ‘him’, cry for and because of ‘him’, and yet through all this he knew too that she will ALWAYS return to ‘his’ side.

She is not his and never will be…

Admired yet not appreciated this little bird of his…

He hates her yet loves her. He sought for her death yet preserves her life. He wants her yet could never have her.

He wants her smile only for himself. That little shy smile that she gives him that night under the midnight sky. Possessive beast that he is, he sought out the death of the one that bring forth her tears yet knew he could never rip out the heart of her offender.

Yet death is what he sought for himself when he saw that smile that he considers his being stolen by the one that is not him. ‘He’ that hurt her more than any could count…

Why?

Why?

Why is this feeling, this pain when he knew oh so well that she is not his?

His tears flow freely because of her and only for her…

That winter night, he stole something from her and he knew she will never forgive him. He hates himself, wanting to tear out his own heart. Oh, what fool have he become? But Tsukuyomi above, her lips are so blue and he only wishes to bring warmth to it. It starts as chaste, but the flavour explodes on his tongue.

The tears in her gaze when they draw apart tear out a chunk of his heart…

He have never in all his long life to fall or feel love, let along with a human miko nonetheless. He sought to crush it.

What good does it when it only brought forth pain?

Oh how he long for the days when he locks his heart behind a stone wall.

Why must she reach him? Why must he seek for her?

Why?

How can she, a mere mortal see a part of him that not even he can see?

But even as he is sure that whatever chance of them being together have been snuff out that winter, she seek for him. He tries to avoid her yet in vain. A single touch and he knew he could never ever see a world without her by his side.

Yet once again she is snatch away from him in the cruellest way possible. Time would not let them be…

Almost driven to the brink of madness, he seeks for her.

Burying himself into his work several decades later since Fate snatch his little bird away, he built his own empire. The world of youkai is quickly being eclipse by the fast growing world of the mortals. It did not take long for him to realise why his little bird could not see the danger of being so close to his kind and its consequences. Why she does not understand the reason he why he does what he did.

His kind for her never exists in her time…

That day when he found her again, she is too young. She reminds him of his mortal daughter Rin. Chasing a little bird with a melting ice-cream in one hand until that cold confectionary went smack on his highly expensive suite. He plays with his little bird despite the sticky sweet cream on his vest.

Years later, he sees her again. Her sad eyes breaks his heart, clearly that she misses the past. But when he remembers that the one she misses is not him, his heart crumbles. But alas, be it fortune or else, he is force to see her face to face.

Despite her smile, despite the laughter and relief in her eyes, he knew deep inside that he is not that she waits for. The tears when he told he the death of the one who is not him proof enough.

Once again he cries because of her…

His tears after all are only for her…

That night under the winter sky, once again he makes that same mistake. It almost went too far…

“Sesshoumaru…?” Her gasp for him brings back his sanity from that fog of lust. Oh Tsukuyomi, how he wants her, this daughter of Amaterasu. Her body too soft against his hard plane, her skin too smooth that he can’t help but savour and her temperature add fire to his boiling blood.

He fears to see her eyes. But when he did look up, it not the expected resentment or hatred. She looks upon him with fear, anticipation and most of all…love. That last emotion is not something he expects from her.

“I fear you… I love you… Will you let me play with you?”

Ah… He remembers the king’s game, or rather known as chess that he played with her that one night during a visit. He asked her lightly, “Regarding the world of politics as this game…if this Sesshoumaru were to find a mate to play his game for him, what would you recommend, Miko?”

Her answer had been; “Why not one who play WITH you instead of FOR you?”

“This Sesshoumaru could not trust anyone easily in the case that he is betrayed. Be it his own mate,”

“Well… You have to trust someone at least?”

“Who, Miko?”

She paused in her game, “Must we all fear you? Why can’t someone loves you for who you are, Killing Perfection and all?”

“Will you, Miko? Fear me as much as you love me?” He can see that he had caught her off guard, for that is the first time he uses a first person speech in front of her. But he never thought that he had hope for her answer as much as he fears it.

To find someone that can understand the way he rule yet still strong enough to face him and change his believes are a rarity that is next to none. She is one, a precious gem his little bird…

And now, this person that means so much to him, one who give him more that he can repay has long pass to the land beyond. Once he thought that he could never live without her presence, but had left so much of herself behind that he is content enough to move forward. Even without her by his side.

The little bird that always flaps its way to the moon reaches it’s cold surface and turns into a phoenix, changing the moon into a sun.

Every time, during the anniversary of her death and the night when he first build a bond with her, he will cry. With the locket that adorn her neck, a message that he and she shared with each other hold save within it, dangling between his two digits.

After all, he cry because of her and only her…
