Nightmares

The first things I notice as my eyes open are the bright white light in the also white ceiling over me, the heaviness of my body, the sheets covering me and that not a word can come out of my mouth. Trying to reach said mouth takes so long and is so painful that my eyes darted to the tubes attached to my arm. Raw panic slowly enters in me and somewhere in the room a beeping sound makes its presence known.

No matter how painfully aware I am of the fact that I can’t scream, it doesnt stops me from trying to call for Inuyasha. My eyes burn with unshed tears so much that closing them real tight is the only option and the beginnings of what it turns out to be the biggest head ache I’ve ever had blows me almost unconscious.

Hearing hurried footsteps doesn’t make it any better, or the loud yell of what I can imagine is a woman calling for someone to call a doctor doesn’t relieve me any more of the ache not only in my head, but in my whole body. I really did it this time. I finally got myself in a hospital bed. I wonder the reaction mama had when Inuyasha had to carry me home after defeating Naraku. “Here Higurashi-san. Can you believe it took her 5 years to finish the jewel and killing Naraku? After she wakes her ass up, (pardon my French) tell her I’ll be picking her heavy human ass (my French IS getting better) in one week so that she can make the wish.” And my soft spoken, kind mother would only smile, thanking him for his trouble and send him away.

Now I hear three people in the room, Nurses, calling for Dr. Matsushita. That’s probably the doctor in charged of my currently sorry state. “Its ok Kagome, the doctor will come shortly” says one of them. “I can’t believe she’s awake. Her mother will be so relieved" says nurse at my right to the other nurses.

“UGH” I grumbled and I can’t believe that THAT’S the only sound coming out of my mouth right now. “Don’t move Kagome, try to stay still” the nurse situated at my feet said.

Stay still? Try to say THAT to the constant ticking in my head. And why is my mouth and throat so dry? And most of all WHY DO I HAVE A TUBE IN MY THROAT AND OTHER DELICATE PARTS OF MY ANATOMY?

By this time the beeping sound of a machine, from what I recall from those famous medical shows is a Heart Monitor, starts accelerating. At least THAT will make the good doctor come any faster.  “For Kami´s sakes, she’s awake, she’s finally awake” a male voice says.

AH, so the doctor finally made his appearance. Now I can finally ask him if this sweating, nausea and lightheadedness is normal. Yeah, probably as normal as having tubes shoved down my throat and lower parts is.

By now, what ever Dr. Matsushita is saying to one of the nurses becomes so faint that trying to make them make sense it’s impossible. I start feeling a little bit calmer, and my lungs are able to take in more air. What ever they gave me is also making the pain in my head recedes.

Aaah, keep it coming doctor. This little cocktail can seriously become in handy for future situations like this. Not that I plan on making this a habit. But will keep it in mind.

NOTE TO SELF: Ask for the name first thing tomorrow.

“I can’t imagine what it must feel like waking up after a 5 years in coma, I’m calling her mother” says one of the nurses. Now apparently, besides sweating like a mule, light as a feather and strong as a noodle, I was psychotic because she just didn’t say what THINK she said, 5 years, did she?

A/N: Wow, that came out of nowhere! It hit me like a truck and I had to get it out. I hope you all like this and dont forget to review!!!!!
