Chapter 1

As he walked along the memorable path to the Bone Eaters Well, Inuyasha thought back to that day exactly five years before when the foul hanyou Naraku had been destroyed by none other then Kagome, the young miko from the future and his dearest friend…. 

FLASHBLACK 

The battle had been going on for what seemed like hours, and almost everyone envoled, had either been injured or had fallen during the first part of the ongoing battle. The Great Lord Sesshoumaru had been injured by taking on a full blow while trying to protect his ward Rin. Sango was also out of the fight trying to control poison from spreading through Miroku’s body after he absorbed all of Narakus poisonous insects. And Shippo being to small to make any large amount of difference stayed out of the fight to help protect the injured, and right now he was attending to an injured Kouga, who also was grieving over the loss of his mate Ayame who had been killed trying to protect him during the battle.

But InuYasha, who was still able to fight even with several deep wounds throughout his body; was busy trying to retrieve Kagome who was now laying unconscious behind the vile vermin he had been fighting. “IT’S OVER NARAKU!” InuYasha yelled as he tried once again to strike Naraku with the wind-scar only to be knocked out by one of the tentacles that had been lurking behind him.

“Ku Ku Ku do you honestly think that a dirty mutt like you can defeat me the Great Naraku?” as he inched towards InuYasha he slowly lifted a tentacle aiming it directly above InuYasha’s heart, “This ends now, you will no longer interfere with my plans InuYasha.” Before Naraku even had the chance to lower his tentacle an arrow shot through it and instantly disintegrated it.

“That’s enough!” said a fragile Kagome struggling to keep her stance.

“Damn wench do not interfere you will get your chance at death soon enough.” He yelled as he thought to himself, ’When did that girl get up? I will punish her for her interference!’ With and evil grin he looked at her, he had never noticed how attractive the ningen miko before him was.With her lovely blue eyes and curvaceous figure and couldn’t help but stare at her with eyes full of lust, “But if your good I promise it may be a more pleasurable then painful death.” He said with a smirk imagining all the erotic things he could do to her before he would take the life from her.

“You’re the one whose time is up I will not let you win Naraku!” with that said she summoned all her strength and spiritual power into her last arrow for one last shot.

“Go ahead little miko take your shot, we both know your no match for me! You’re just a weak, pathetic human.”

By this time Sesshoumaru had recovered fully and was about to take out his sword to start his own little battle with Naraku when he felt the immense amount of energy radiating off the young miko. He couldn’t believe that such a young human could hold such power, although he would admit that she was powerful in her own right it just stunned him to feel the magnitude of the power she was calling forth. Again, finally able to come out of his small trance like state, he took another step readying to take action when he heard her whisper, ‘Even if it kills me Naraku, I will not let you win’ before Sesshoumaru could even comprehend what she had said he noticed a single teardrop roll down her face as she let go of the arrow yelling, “Hit the mark!”

After that three events had happened and everyone in that small clearing injured or not, witnessed all three. First was that the arrow Kagome had sent towards Naraku hit him right in the chest. And at first it seemed like it had no effect to him, but slowly Naraku started to be engulfed in a pure white glow and began to scream in agony. After a few minutes both the glow the screams had vanished, leaving only the very human who had caused all the trouble Onigumo.

Before anyone knew what to do the second occurrence had happened. Kagome walked up to the now human Onigumo and with a simple touch of her finger against his forehead she purified the last remains of the evil within him and he soon became a pile of dust that was blown away by the wind, but not before Kagome could whisper a small prayer, “May the demons of the underworld take pity on your soul Onigumo for you will find no heaven after death.”

Everyone was in awe at her performance not only had most of them underestimated her and her power but they all felt gratitude towards the young miko who had destroyed the very essence of all there pain and suffering. As they watched her stand after picking up the Shikon no Tama she turned towards them, and that’s when the third incident happened. With a smile on her face and tears falling from her eyes she said, “We did it guys, we won!” And with that said she crumpled to the floor where she slowly lost conciseness.

“Kagome!” Sango screamed before running to Kagome’s side followed by Shippo, Rin, InuYasha and even Sesshoumaru. As they all looked down at the young miko they noticed that there were no scratches on her body from the fight before and that all the damages on her clothing had vanished as well. She just laid there with a gentle peaceful smile that made her look like an angel glowing in the light of the sun above.

“What’s wrong with her she isn’t even injured.” said InuYasha, his voice full of worry and concern. By this time both Kouga and Miroku had come to join the group that surrounded Kagome despite the injuries they both had.

“She used a lot of her spiritual energy, more then she has ever used before. I’m surprised she even survived after that last shot. The best we can do is wait for her to awake.” Miroku said as he knelt down to take Kagome’s hand and place a gentle kiss on it, “I thank you lady Kagome for destroying Naraku and bringing peace back to this land.” As he was about to place her hand back on top of her other he noticed the Shikon no Tama glowing. Before any of them knew it the Shikon shot to sky and transformed into a beautiful woman whose gentle smile resembled the one Kagome had upon her face.

“I am Midiroki, the mother of all priestesses, the very soul and spirit that lies within the jewel. Kagome has made her wish.”

“What did she wish for?” asked a curious Shippo.

“She wished for my soul to find peace and happiness.”

“That’s Kagome for you always unselfish and caring.” Sango said truthfully and with a small chuckle. “I knew she would make the right wish.”

“Of course that is what I would expect of my reincarnation. Her heart is pure and her spirit is full of love and life, she is more then I was when I was alive and that is why she was able to defeat Naraku.” She looked down to the young miko and smiled.

InuYasha watched the spirit stare at Kagome before saying, “What did you mean by Kagome being your reincarnation? Does that mean Kikyo was also your reincarnation as well?”

“Of course not!” snapped Midiroki, “Kikyo cold never be my reincarnation. She never fully accepted all creatures of this world as equals and she was easily manipulated by Naraku. The only reason why you may think that Kagome was her reincarnation is because of how similar they look but if you take a deep look you can see how different they are.”

“Any of us could see that, well except InuYasha.” Shippo said before gaining a death glare from InuYasha himself.

After a small chuckle Midiroki regained all her composure and said, “The reason why Kagome is asleep is because she was making her wish and because I wished to speak to her in private so do not be alarmed. She is stronger then you all think.” she sighed. “With that said the only way for her wish to be complete is if I am happy. And I can not be happy unless Kagome is happy, so I am going to make her happy by making all of her loved ones happy. First the wolf prince, Kagome see’s you as an older brother and I know it would make her happy to see you smile when she awakes……”

“I-I cccant do that for her, as much as I would want to, I just can’t right now I am truly sorry Midiroki sama.” he said as he lowered his head in shame.

Midiroki walked to him and gentle lifted his face to look at her own. “Please let me finish, I was going to say that she would be even more happy to see you smiling with your mate by your side.” She turned Kouga’s head to the left where he saw Ayame smiling with her arms stretched out waiting for him to come to her. Instantly he ran to her and kissed her passionately.

He turned toward the Priestess, “Thank You.”

“It was something Kagome would want, now Shippo you are next.” She went to kneel in front of the kitsune. “I was going to bring back your parents but there souls are about to be reborn so I was unable to do that I am sorry but they did give me two things to give you.” She reached into her sleeve to recover the items. “First is a letter from your mother and second is a fang from your father. He said although he was not a very strong demon he wishes that you will get a weapon made from his fang so that a part of him will always be with you.”

As she placed them in his small hands he smiled at her and simply said, “I will cherish these forever.” And Rin went up to her friend and gave him a hug for she understood how he was feeling.

“Oh Rin I have a gifts from your parents as well.” She reached again into her sleeves. “Your father wished for you to have this necklace. It belonged to his mother and now it is yours. And your mother wished you to have her favorite jade comb along with this letter.” she placed the gifts in her hands after receiving a hug from the weeping child. “Now Miroku you…..”

“No Lady Midiroki I am happy already. The death of Naraku was enough; all I want now is to be happy with the woman I love.” He walks over to Sango taking her hand in his. “Sango, my love, you would make me the happiest man alive and if you would be my wife, will you marry me?”

“Yes Miroku I will.” She leaned forward and gave him a soft kiss to seal the deal.

All Midiroki could do was smile at the sight. “Well I pray you too good fortune and happiness then that will be your gift Miroku Kun. But you Sango, your gift is your brother Kohaku. Do not worry, I have eased his thoughts on all memories reguarding Naraku and he understand that it wasn't his fault that your village was destroyed, so do not worry he is no longer in pain.”

Sango was already in tears before Midiroki even finished. “Where is he? Is he here?” She frantically started to look around but stopped after seeing the Priestess shake her head.

“He is with Kaede waiting for your return. Don’t worry she already knows why he is there.” She waited to for the demon slayer to understand before continuing. “Well 2 more left whose first?” They all looked at her with confused expressions.

“I know InuYasha is one but who is the other?” Shippo whispered to Rin. She thought about it and then started to look around first she saw Jaken, but she knew he wasn’t really a friend of Kagomes so she continued until her eyes set on ….

“OH! I know its Sesshoumaru-sama isn’t it Lady Midiroki?!” She turned toward the Priestess with a huge smile waiting to see if she was right.

“You are correct little one, Kagome wouldn’t be happy if Sesshoumaru wasn’t.”

“Humph, your wrong there’s no way Kagome would want to see that jerk happy!” Fumed an angry InuYasha “She would NEVER care for such a cold hearted demon like him!”

“Are you saying that I am wrong InuYasha? Because I know that I am not.” She snapped before turning her full attention to the tai-youkai. “Sesshoumaru please except this gift. You severed arm.” With a snap of her fingers the arm had instantly reappeared. “I know it’s not much compared to the others, but it was really all Kagome could think of giving you.”

“This Sesshoumaru thanks you miko-sama and Lady Kagome.” with a short bow he sat down not taking his eyes off his new arm wondering to himself, ‘why would the miko want me to be happy, I’ve tried killing her and yet she still cares for me’ he continued his thoughts while waiting to see what the miko would give his baka half-brother.

“Now InuYasha, I am giving you a gift that has limitations so please pay attention. Okay I am allowing Kikyo to have HER soul back but she will not have any miko powers. She lost all those rights when she let hatred consume her. But she is only getting another chance as long as she makes you happy which means at any point in time if she were to betray you she would lose her life and she will go straight to hell. I have already spoken to her about this so she is aware of the conditions. She too, is with Kaede for she was also a gift to her. Now I must leave for it‘s time for Kagome to awaken. Good bye everyone.” With those final words the Priestess Midiroki vanished into a white sparkling light that drifted into the sky.
