Easter Morning by VampireGoddess12Xx
Happy Easter!
Sesshomaru sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. He had only been with Kagome for a total of 4 months and he surely was beginning to soften up. Of course Rin had been melting the ice around his heart for years, but this, this was ridiculous. From his resting place at the base of tree he watched a number of children running and playing, Rin and Shippo included. He rubbed his temple in an attempt to ward of the coming head ache. Babysitting….
Kagome was back at the village. She had begged and begged him to watch the children of the village for just a little while. They were celebrating some…holiday; Easter she called it. Sesshomaru had no idea what an Easter was but he could not deny Kagome the joy of celebrating it. She had promised that the children would love it too and when she said children she meant ALL the children.
So with the promise that she’d get them soon, Sesshomaru sat… babysitting. He of course would have opted to have Inuyasha do it, but Inuyasha didn’t have the patience to deal with children.
Rin was a lot happier now that they spent so much time with Kagome. When they traveled she had Shippo to play with and when they stopped back the village she had a number of friends. When they lived their solitary life of wandering it had never occurred to Sesshomaru that Rin might actually be very lonely. He was happier to see her smile so much and Kagome could not be a better mother.
Kagome smiled as she shuffled around the village. This April morning the sun was bright and the air was warm. Kagome giggled as she placed the brilliantly colored eggs in numerous hiding places all around the village. The children would be delighted once they got to crack the plastic shells open and get to the goodies inside. Kagome could hardly wait to see the joy on their faces.
It took Kagome about an hour or so to hide all the plastic candy filled eggs around the village. They of course weren’t so cleverly hidden as to give the children a hard time at finding them. Just enough for them to have fun. She hadn’t gone into great detail with what she was doing to Sesshomaru, only that it was a surprise for the children. It had taken a great deal of persuasion and puppy eyed looks to get him to agree to take them away from the village for the morning.
With a final look at the village she set off to find her love and the children. A short journey through the trees found her in a small field. The children all looked happy and Sesshomaru… well he only looked slightly annoyed. She giggled and skipped towards him. He rose to greet her and she placed a small kiss on his lips.
“Come, lets gather the children” She said happily as she grabbed his hand
He allowed her to pull him along and knew she would not take offence to his silence.
“Kagome-chan!” Rin called happily as she ran towards her, the other children all seemed to follow
“Hello Rin” Kagome smiled as she placed a hand on the young girls head
Kagome crouched down as the children gathered. Although she was not tall for girls her age she was a tower compared to the children. She smiled at all of them and they smiled back at her. All the children loved her, they knew not of her strange origins but they knew of her kindness.
“I have a surprise for all of you” She announced with a smile “It’s back at the village”
The children were so excited about what the surprise could be that Kagome almost couldn’t keep them from running all the way there. She laughed at their impatience as she led them back towards the village refusing to allow anyone to walk ahead of her.
Sesshomaru was not one to follow instead of lead but he was curious to see what his little miko had planned.
As they approached the village Kagome stopped. She turned around to face her little flock “Alright, now before we get to the village you’ll have to get one of these” She said as she disappeared behind a tree and came back with a number of pastel colored baskets
The children all gathered around her eagerly to get their baskets. They looked at her questioningly and Kagome couldn’t help but laugh. They were all to sweet.
“what are these for mama?” Shippo asked as he examined his blue, green and yellow basket
Kagome smiled at him but replied with a simple “You’ll see”
Sesshomaru was just as confused as the children, although he of course didn’t show it. What on earth could she have planned that involved colored baskets? He figured he would find out when the children did.
Kagome led them into the village and the children looked around searching for whatever their surprise could be. Then the say a litter of brightly colored objects.
Before Kagome allowed them to go she spoke “Alright” she smiled “I’ve hidden a number of goodie filled Easter eggs around for you all to find. When you find one, pick it up and put in your basket and continue searching. When everyone is done you can look in your eggs”
The children, Rin and Shippo included, were bouncing with excitement. They couldn’t wait for her to say “Go!”
The children all laughed and ran into their village, their baskets bouncing against their legs. They were eager to find the so called “Easter eggs”
Sesshomaru was still confused. He didn’t understand what they could possibly be celebrating by collecting the strange egg things. He turned towards Kagome but she did not offer and explanation only a smile. He leaned down and pressed a kiss against her lips. She was wonderful with children.
They walked hand in hand into the center of the village, watching all the children run and laugh and search, including their own. When a small child cried out and caught their attention.
Sesshomaru could tell easily why the child was crying. While all the other children easily spotted and gathered their eggs he could not. Glancing down Sesshomaru spotted a purple colored egg, he reached down and gathered it. Much to Kagome astonishment the taiyoukai crouched down to the crying child and placed the small egg in his basket.
The child looked up and the demon lord in wonder. He immediately stopped crying and smiled a bright smile before he quickly got up and ran to find more.
Sesshomaru walked back towards Kagome who was still looking at him in amazement. He flashed a small smile and kissed her gently.
“I’ve had to quiet cries too” He said as they pulled away all Kagome could do was smile.
Happy Easter everyone! Thought I'd write this lovely little tale for all of you! Hope you enjoyed it :]
