            Chapter 1- Preface: One World

<~>

Before that night, I had no idea of another existence besides my own race. Beings who drink the life blood of my race, beings that have fangs and garnet eyes, but still walk upright and take a form like my own, beings that lust after something I knew nothing of.

I was a human, who didn’t know about the existence of vampires.

Vampires exist; you just don’t know they’re there. They live in the same world we do, and yet...their world is entirely different from our own. They have a different set of ethics, mortality, rules, and even existence than we do.

But there are other beings that regular humans know nothing of as well, though they are just as human as any of the rest of us.

Since ancient times vampires have been the enemies of humans. They are those who exist in the darkness, and those who are fated to hunt them, vampire hunters. Vampire hunters believe vampires to be pitiful beings that only live by instinct, and are therefore dangerous.

Since time began it has been vampires on one side, and humans and vampire hunters on the other...but are there humans and vampire hunters that work for the other side? Does one race cross over into the other without anyone knowing it?

This is my story, the story of how I found out about that world, and all its mysteries. The night I found out vampires exist, the time when I fell in love with a vampire, when I crossed from my side over to theirs, and...

the bloody war that follows everyone, no matter which side you’re on... whether you know it or not.
