Sesshomaru walked through the front door of the house, loosening his tie. He was home late, again. The company’s merger had been keeping him out late, held up in conferences rooms over bad Chinese take-out, for the past couple of weeks. He was really starting to miss his wife’s home cooking and his wife in general. Between the merger, spending time with his children, and the mandatory-minimal- amount sleep there didn’t seem to be much time for him and Kagome.

Stepping into the living room from the entry way, the house seemed unnaturally quiet. It was close to eight o’clock, so the kids should still be up, but he didn’t hear any sponge-bob blaring in some distant corner of his house, he didn’t hear the clashing of toy swords or the wails for their mother when one of them inevitably hurt one another.

This was strange indeed, and it put his senses in high alert. He swept through the living room to the family room. The lights were dimmed and not a sign of his family anywhere, he was sure he’d seen Kagome’s car in the garage, could they be playing a game of some sort?

Scanning the room he noticed a plum scarf tied to the base of a lamp. A smile pulled at his lips, he recognized that scarf. Back when Kagome and he had been first dating, in college, she lived with quite a few roommates, a group of chattering girls. The girls had come up with a system where each of them put a different colored scarf on the door if they had a man over. Kagome’s scarf was plum. He pulled the loosely tied silky fabric off the base of the lamp, there was a secret message in the placement of the scarf; it meant they were alone. Kagome must have packed the kids off and sent them to her mother’s place for the night.

She must have been feeling the lack of intimacy between them as of late and taken matters into her own hands. He wondered what she had planned. He headed back to the hallway and towards the stairs that led to the bedrooms. He had a feeling he knew where she was. Approaching the stairs he noticed yet another familiar scrap of clothing tied to the banister. It was a green bandana from Kagome’s school days. Its meaning: ‘I’m in the mood for…’ that bandana paired with various colors was her cheeky way of telling him what she wanted that particular evening. Sesshomaru was pleased. It’d been years since they’d played this game; not since there youngest was born. He mounted the stairway not finding any more fabric, which kept him in suspense.

He reached the doorway to his bedroom, dissapointed there wasn’t any more signs, maybe he’d been hoping for too much. He turned the knob slowly, letting the door open to reveal his wife lying on the bed, her ebony hair fanned out on their silk sheets, wearing a new set of bra and panties, with every color of the rainbow on them.

“Do you know what I’m in the mood for?” She said arching her back suggestively.

“mm,” he growled predatorily, “a little of everything?”

“That’s right” she cooed, “now get over here.”

Normally he didn’t like be commanded, but in her case he let it slide. Five years of marriage did that to a man.

He dropped his shirt and pants on the way to bedside. Sliding in next to her, he ran his hands along the firm flesh of her abdomen, before catching her lips in a kiss.

“Where to start?” he said hungrily.

“You can start by tasting the rainbow,” she said pulling away, it was then that he realized what it was that his wife was wearing, edible bras and panties.

Not for the first time, Sesshomaru was thankful for his wife’s ingenuity when it came to the bedroom. He certiantly would enjoy tasting the rainbow; and whether or not she planned on it originally, they would be doing every one of those colors before he let her leave the bedroom.
