Can Anybody Find Me... by SheDevil

I Get Up

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha, which makes me sad. Thank you Rumiko Takahashi for the amazing journey and know that I don't make any profit from writing anything.

Each morning Kagome died a little as she struggled to get out of her sleeping bag.  She hasn’t, and will probably never get use to sleeping on the floor, for it was doing one hell of a number on her back. It made her bed at home, in the present time, more welcoming. She could just picture herself diving right into its comfortable glory, wrapping herself in her heavenly blanket and laying her head on her wondrous pillow. It didn’t matter, she had no time to think about such luxuries now.

Kagome hesitantly stood up, twisting her upper torso sharply as the bones popped along her upper back. It would have to do for now.

She grabbed her toiletry bag and made way for a near by spring, walking softly as to not wake her travel companions. She looked up at a nearby tree to see Inuyasha sitting on top of a branch, chin tucked in towards his chest, his mouth was slightly parted. She smiled to herself knowing that those were all good signs of being fast asleep. She would have some peace this morning.

At the spring, she quickly freshened up for the new day, taking a moment to look at her reflection in the mirror. She looked extremely exhausted. Although she had a full nights rest, the bags under her eyes told a different story. Kagome tried her best to cover her imperfections with makeup, but to no avail. She had spent so much of her time in the Feudal Era collecting the shards of the Skikon Jewel however, it wasn’t her journey that made her exhausted and worn. She looked into the mirror for a second time and couldn’t help but notice the resemblance between herself and Kikyou, the cause of her anguish. Kagome no longer yearned for Inuyasha, she knew she would be nothing but Kikyou's copy to him. The only thing that separated them, besides their scent, were their eyes. Luckily, Kagome had the strangest blue eyes.

Kagome gasped as a small tear rolled down her face in her reflection. She was crying again. She promised herself that she was over it; no more tears.

All Kagome wanted was to be loved, by somebody. Real love. Not because she looked like someone else, not because she could sense Jewel shards and definitely not because she had some weird ailment back at home. Sorry Hojo!

Kami-sama, it honestly didn’t feel like too much to ask.

She just couldn’t catch a break.
