Kagome and Inuyasha Higurashi

Chapter 1

Kagome and Inuyasha Higurashi

I’m not like you. I know everybody probably says or thinks that, but I know better. I wasn’t born, like you were, I was found. Not alone, of course. My twin brother was found along with me. It’s funny, because if you look at us, we don’t look anything like twins. We’re opposites in everything, looks included. Whereas I have blue green eyes and ink black hair, he’s got the darkest brown eyes I’ve ever seen, almost black, with pale blonde hair. He’s the yang to my yin.

Our parents found us lying together in a black basket. He was wrapped in a black blanket, and I was wrapped in a white one. We were lying with my head by his feet and his head by mine. Mother said we looked exactly like the yin yang symbol, and she knew right away that we were a gift from God, since she cannot reproduce.

Growing up, my brother and I realized that we weren’t like the other kids we grew up with. Sure, we looked pretty much the same, all have two hands, two feet, a mouth, a nose, a belly button etc, but aside from that, my brother and I were, and still are, nothing like the other kids. When the other six year olds were playing with dolls and running around like crazy people, my brother and I were reading Howard Zinn’s History is a Weapon. When the twelve year olds started dating, we started hacking. When the teenagers entered sports, we did too, but only because mother and father made us do so. We’d have much preferred coming straight home and hacking someone’s network. Lance likes to send out viruses; I liked to be nosey in other peoples’ business.

There were also our… capabilities…

“Kagome!” I heard mom calling from down the hall. I closed my laptop, tucking it under my bed, and got up. I was already dressed. A black long sleeved shirt with skinny jeans that tucked into three inch heeled black ankle boots. My waist length long, straight hair was let down my back, and I had silver hoops in my ears.

“Coming Ma!” I called back.

Hacking another network? I heard Yasha’s voice in my head.

You already know. I replied smirking. This is one of the capabilities I talked about. Inuyasha and I actually had what the world calls, “twin telepathy.” It’s actually very handy. If we wanted to, we could cheat off of each other for tests. As it is, however, we really don’t need each other’s help.

“Are you ready to go?” Yash asked from the door. Our adopted parents don’t know about the telepathy… we felt it would be… prudent… to hide that from them. We’re abnormal enough to them as it is, what with us not being interested in the rest of the world at seventeen years old.

I nodded. “Yep, let’s go.”

Yasha opened the door for me and led the way to the car. His today since we drove mine yesterday.

My brother drove a 2007 black Navigator. It seated eight, which seemed like a waste to me, five was the maximum number of people that ever entered the car. I, on the other hand drive a white Mustang GT… a 2009 at that. The car is my baby.

When I got to the passenger side, I snapped my fingers and the door opened for me. Telekinesis… another capability, this one only mine. On the other side, I saw Inu float effortlessly into the drivers’ seat. Where I got telekinesis, he got levitation.

A moment later, the car was started and we were pulling out of the driveway. Inuyasha played football at the high school, he was a running back and a wide receiver, and I thought he was good. He claimed number three, and every week I wore his jersey to the football games.

“Are you coming to my volleyball game today?” I asked. Although I was forced into it, I loved volleyball, and I didn’t need to use my powers to get the MVP trophy that I was sure would come into my hands this year.

“I don’t see why not…. Can I bring Kagura?” Inuyasha asked. I rolled my eyes. My brother’s new “love interest,” Kagura Kaze, was the snobbiest bitch in school.

“As long as she doesn’t try to speak to me, I don’t care what you do with her,” I said, crossing my arms and rolling my eyes.

Inuyasha laughed, pulling into a parking spot at the back of the parking lot and getting out of the car. A moment later, he was opening my door. He held his hand out for me and I took it gratefully, allowing my brother to pull me from the car. We walked towards the school next to each other, and as we were crossing the last street, a car came whizzing around the corner straight for us. With barely a thought, I looked at the car and willed it to slow the hell down. It stopped just before hitting Yash and me.

“Watch where the hell you’re going, loser!” I yelled to the driver. Inu could speed himself up until he was all but a blur, while I could slow other things down. Our powers were parallel, yet opposite to each other.

“Be careful when you do that Gome,” Yash whispered to me. “You know what happens with your eyes.

I rolled my eyes and looked at him with a sarcastic grin on my face. “As though anybody would believe Sesshoumaru over me, especially when he’s spouting such obvious nonsense such as my eyes turning completely white. I mean, who’s ever heard of such a thing? Besides us of course.” And with that, I walked away from my brother towards my boyfriend, Naraku, who was waiting for me by the school’s entrance.

“You’re coming to my game today, right babe?” I asked as he took my hand in his and started walking into the building.

“Of course,” Naraku said smiling at me.

“Good,” I said. “You better.”

Naraku was a football player too, but he was the quarterback. He was about six foot two, exactly foot taller than me, with black hair that he kept cut short, and eyes such a deep brown, they looked almost burgundy. Unfortunately, Naraku was Kagura’s brother.

“Did that loser Sesshoumaru hurt you in any way?” Naraku asked. “I saw him almost hit you.”

“No, I’m not hurt, just a little irritated, and somewhat shaken up. I could’ve died!” I gushed falsely, clutching Naraku’s arm a little tighter.

It’s alright love,” Naraku said, wrapping his arm around my waist. “He’s not that stupid.”

I chuckled. “I beg to differ.”
