Beach Day
This is a short one-shot that I wrote for the very talented HEARTLESS-IPOD-NINJA!!!! This is a one-shot for her drawing "Beach Day". I kept it in the "Choices and Consequences" universe. There are a few spoilers for the sequel to C&C, so if you don't want to know them you should probably skip this story.

Beach Day
"Daddy! Daddy! Daddy! Look what Rin did!"
Lifting his head from his mate's neck where he had been paying particular attention to his mark proclaiming her as his to all the world Sesshoumaru watched his daughter skip towards him as she pointed behind her. Glancing over her shoulder Sesshoumaru couldn't help but chuckle as he took in the sight of Jaken buried neck deep in the sand with the form of a female mermaid shaped in the sand around him. Hearing his mate laughing at the sight as well he complimented, "Very nice Rin. Your artistic skills never cease to amaze me."
Jaken glared at his lord and lady as they laughed at his predicament. "Rin! You said you were going to make me a dragon you silly girl! Get me out of here!"
Clapping her hands over her mouth the small girl fell down into the sand and rolled around as she giggled madly at her prank. "Jaken-sama looks pretty like this though! See! Rin made you pretty! Don't you think so Mommy?"
Kagome laughed as she snuggled deeper into Sesshoumaru's arms where she lounged back against his chest and agreed, "I concur Jaken. You look lovely, but Rin perhaps you should help Jaken out now. It's almost time to leave."
"But Mommmyyyyyy! Rin wants to play in the water some more! Pleeeaaassssseeeee!" Rin begged with the biggest puppy dog eyes she could muster. Seeing her mother's determined expression Rin turned her large liquid eyes upon her father. He could never tell her no to something she really wanted. "Daddy! Pleeeaaaasssseee can we stay a little longer!"
Unable to resist her pleading tone Sesshoumaru said, "Ok baby girl. Just a little longer, but then we have to go. We're meeting your brother Taro for dinner and you don't want to be late do you?"
At the mention of her brother Rin jumped up from the ground and dashed towards Jaken to dig him out of the sand. She loved her brother Taro dearly. He was the bestest big brother in all the world! "That's ok Daddy! We can leave now! I's wants to see my Taro!"
Both adults laughed as they watched Rin begin to dig furiously to get Jaken out of the wet sand she had so thoroughly buried him in. While she was busy Kagome looked over her shoulder at Sesshoumaru and asked, "Do you know what Taro wanted to see us about tonight? He sounded so vague over the phone. Do you think something is wrong?"
Nuzzling his mate's neck Sesshoumaru said, "No. If something was wrong he would have mentioned it. More likely it has something to do with the female he brought with him."
This certainly caught Kagome's attention as she spun around in Sesshoumaru's arms and poked him in the chest as she said, "Spill Buddy! Or you're sleeping alone tonight!"
"Ah! A fate worse than death," Sesshoumaru teased as he reclaimed his mate's succulent and pup swollen form in his arms. Resting his hands over her breeding belly he nuzzled her neck and said, "According to the pilot and stewardess that flew them here in the Taisho jet, as well as my people in the city, Taro brought a woman home with him...and she is staying with him in his apartment in Tokyo."
Kagome gaped at this before a smile spread across her features and she said, "Well if he's introducing her to us she must be important to him."
"Indeed. From what I know of her she is a rather successful independent businesswoman from the States. She's human, but Taro would never bring home a woman unworthy of the Taisho name. I'm most interested in meeting the woman that could capture his attention so thoroughly."
Scowling up at Sesshoumaru Kagome demanded, "Tell me you didn't have a background check done or have meddled in Taro's business?"
Sniffing haughtily Sesshoumaru replied, "I refuse to apologize for being a father little one. Despite his age Taro is still my son and I will always look out for him." Smoothing his hands over Kagome's large stomach he added, "As I will always look after you and all our pups."
Sighing as her eyes filled with happy tears Kagome mumbled, "Damn hormones...how can I stay mad at you when you say such sweet things." Wiping her tears away she smiled mischievously and said, "Ok...so spill. Who is she? What's she like? What kind of business does she have?"
Chuckling Sesshoumaru said, "Ever the protective mother. However, since you are not very good at acting I propose you wait for Taro and his woman to fill you in. You aren't very good at faking surprise."
Pinching her mate's arm Kagome let out a huff and leaned back in Sesshoumaru's arms again. "Well...I guess you might be right...besides when Taro finds out you had this girl checked out, if he doesn't already know, I don't want to go down with you. This way I can claim innocence."
"You would abandon me to our son's wrath? Let me face his fury all alone?"
Giggling Kagome nodded her head as she said, "In a heartbeat lover! I'm no captain. I don't have to go down with the ship."
Poking that sensitive spot in her side that always made her laugh Sesshoumaru teased, "You would no more abandon me than I would you mate." Nuzzling her neck he nipped lightly at his mate mark and once again thanked the Kamis for blessing him with this small onna. 'I could not live without her. I will not live without her.'
Feeling her mate's deep emotions for her through his mark upon her she sent love and support to him through the mark she had placed upon him with her own powers the night of their mating seven years ago. "I love you Fluffy. You and only you for all time."
"As I you," Sesshoumaru said as he tilted Kagome's head up to settle a possessive and loving kiss upon her petal soft lips.
They were pulled apart when a wet, sandy Rin and a disgruntled Jaken plopped down in the sand in front of them.
"Daddyyyyy!! You already made Momma fat! If you keep kissing her like that she'll be bigger than a boat!"
Laughing Kagome pushed Sesshoumaru away and smiled brightly at her daughter. 'Ah the innocence of children.' She and Sesshoumaru had explained to Rin that she was going to have a new little brother or sister a few months ago, and when Rin had asked how the baby got in her stomach Sesshoumaru had froze before blurting out that babies came from husbands kissing their wives. "Alright honey, Mommy and Daddy are done kissing. Are you and Jaken ready to go? Do you have all of your toys packed?"
"Yes Mommy!" Rin cried as she jumped up and grabbed the one unpacked toy. Slipping her swimming ring around her waist she watched as her father rose and gently helped her Mommy to her feet before ordering Jaken to collect the umbrella and bag full of Rin's toys while he stooped down to roll up their blankets and grab the picnic basket.
When Sesshoumaru was ready he placed a chaste kiss on Kagome's check before asking, "Do you want me to load the car and come back and carry you or will you be ok?"
Kagome had been busy dusting sand off of Rin when Sesshoumaru addressed her. Smiling at her overprotective mate she replied, "That's ok Sesshou. I've been sitting down most of the day so I'll be fine." Smiling at Jaken she asked, "Are you ready to go Jaken?"
Bowing respectively Jaken said, "Yes Milady."
Together the family started towards the car when suddenly a large gust of wind swept across the beach. Everyone over three feet thought nothing of it, but Jaken was not so lucky.
"SESSHOUMARU-SAMA!! HELP ME!" Jaken called as the beach umbrella he was carrying blew open and he was carried away.
"Look Daddy! Jaken can fly! Rin wants to fly too!"
Kagome burst into giggles as she watched Jaken soaring higher and higher into the sky.
Sesshoumaru's eye twitched. "Now we're going to be late."
