Temptation by Dandie

Hero

Kagome panted as she ran after her puppy. He had pulled the leash out of the little girls hand and had darted after the neighbor's little kitty.

Tears streamed down the little girls cheeks. Her mom had warned her that she wasn't strong enough to hold the leash, and that if her puppy got away there was nothing that they could do about it because they wouldn't be walking it with her! She had told them that she would most definitely be able to hold onto her puppy.

But she hadn't been able to and now Hatchie had gotten away! If she didn't find him, she would never see him again! New tears started to trickle down her cheeks.

"Hatchie! Come back Hatchie!" she yelled, barely able to see the little brown lab as he took off around another corner after the ornery cat. Why wasn't he listening to her!?

She stopped running in defeat and doubled over, panting hard. Her parents would get worried if she didn't come home soon, she had said she wasn't going to go very far from the house. Kagome looked around and saw that she didn't recognize the neighborhood that she was in... and that wasn't good.

But she couldn't stop now! She had to find Hatchie and bring him home! Otherwise, when he stopped chasing that cat, he would realize he was lost and be sad and lonely.

So she continued to walk, calling out her puppy's name.

"What are you doing in my neighborhood little girl?" A boy from the porch of a really pretty house called to her, looking angry. But he was so cute!

He had long silvery hair, brilliant yellow eyes, and was dressed in jeans and a green polo. He had to be around 12, to her 7.  But why was he glaring at her like that?

"I lost my puppy," she sobbed, looking around again, "And I can't find him!"

"Well..." He looked down at the ground, having a soft spot for dogs, "I can help you find him... What's your name?"

"Kagome and my doggies name is Hatchie, What's your name?"

"Sesshoumaru. Which way did he go?"

Kagome pointed in the direction that she last saw her dog, and they began to walk.  It didn't take long until they caught up with the rascally dog, who was barking at the cat which had climbed a tree.

Just as they almost got to the puppy, he darted out into the street after the cat that jumped off the low branch. Kagome screamed when she saw the car down, while Sesshoumaru darted out into the road to save the little haphazard puppy.

He snatched it just in time as the cars brakes screeched and the horn blared. Kagome stood on the opposite side walk covering her eyes with her hands, not wanting to see anything bad happen.

She slowly peeked through her fingers and saw Sesshoumaru holding Hatchie and walking across the street.

"You're my HERO!" She yelled, and as soon as he made it to the side walk, she hugged him with all the enthusiasm she could muster, her head barely making it to his chest.

"It was nothing..." he mumbled, pale cheeks turning crimson  under the admiration of the little girl.

"You are the greatest in the whole world! You saved my doggie! You will forever be my doggie Hero!" She exclaimed.

Sesshoumaru shook his head and laughed nervously, then helped take the girls dog back to her house, where her parents were looking frantically for her.

Kagome told them the story of her doggie hero over and over throughout that whole week. And they couldn't help but be delighted, because he had saved the puppy and their daughter. He truly was a hero.
