Temptation by Dandie
Keepsake
She was looking for someone. He could tell. Her eyes searched the darkness, confused. He knew that she didn’t see him. He made sure that most people didn’t see him. Most feared him, others worshipped him… All he knew was that most people annoyed him. But this girl with her midnight hair and smoky eyes intrigued him.
She did not smell helpless… But she did smell innocent. As of yet untouched by any man. Interesting. Then why was she in a place like this? Obviously not for the company. He looked around at the whores and druggies in the room.
The only reason he came to this place was because it was easy pickings. He did not like the fact that this place smelled as if it had not been cleaned since it was built. Nor the fact that he was damn near royalty and wallowing in this filth. But humans were getting smarter at detecting his race. This was the only place that people did not shout in fear and point. Most just thought he was some Goth just as high as they were.
Other’s thought that he was just a figment of their delusional brains. He didn’t mind… Some of them were sort of funny in a too bad they are going to die soon way.
He kept his eyes on the girl and she continued to search the house. He wondered who she was looking for. Maybe a soon to be lover? A sibling? Who knew? He knew this story. Plenty of parents or significant others had come here trying to get their loved one off the junk. Out of all the time he had been coming here, he saw maybe one success story. Humans were pathetic.
She started walking his way and he raised his eyebrow. Had she actually seen him? She was looking directly at him.
“Inuyasha?” It was barely a whisper but yet he still heard it. Was that who she was looking for?
“Is… Is that you?” She actually had seen him. That was a first. No one had ever seen him while he remained hidden. Let alone approached him.
“I am not who you seek.” He said quietly, wondering if she heard him. She tilted her head to the side and continued to stare at him.
“You look a lot like him.”
“Well I am not ‘him’ my dear.” She looked down at the floor and she saw something sparkle in the light. She was crying?
“Please do not show your weakness here. They will devour you whole. You do realize you are in a den of wolves correct? This person must mean a lot for you to come here of all places. He is not worth it. If he would frequent here, an innocent like you should have nothing to do with him.”
Was he giving this girl advice? What was he thinking?
Kagome watched the stranger that looked so much like Inuyasha. She knew it could not be him and she also knew that she would never see Inuyasha again. He was dead. And she had watched him die. He had overdosed on Heroin in her apartment two days ago. But she was still in shock and disbelief. He could not be dead. He could not leave her in a place like this alone.
Even when he had been on the drugs he was the only one who had always been there for her no matter what.
So she had wondered here… Hoping that maybe she had dreamt that he died. He was really here getting his supply just so he could come to her house and shoot up. She had hated the fact that he was addicted to Heroin. But he had told her that it was the only thing that made him feel normal, so she had left him alone.
Why had she not tried to make him better? Forced him to go into rehab? She was a horrible person and a horrible friend. She was the reason he had died!
“I don’t want to feel anymore! Can you make me not feel anymore? I know I don’t know you, but please!” Sesshoumaru stared at her. What could he do with this human girl?
“And how would I be able to do that?”
“There is something about you, I can sense it. Something special. You have the power to take me away from this place.”
Now how in the hell did she know all that?
He lunged at her, so she was forced to see him in the light. Yellow eyes stared at her; long white hair flowed down his elegant shoulders and nearly to the floor. She gasped. Then leaned forward to stroke his hair.
“You’re beautiful.” He quirked a lip and let a little fang show. Still it did not faze her.
She ran her finger along his fang and nicked her finger. His eyes began to swirl red and he dragged her into the shadows with him. He could not contain himself, the smell of her blood swirled around him. He licked the blood off her finger and shuddered.
It was the sweetest blood he had ever tasted. And suddenly he could not contain himself.
He pulled her up to his chest and licked her neck.
“I can take away all feeling if it is what you desire.” She sighed and went limp against him.
That was what she wanted… The pain to go away.
Sesshoumaru sank is fangs into her neck and gloried in her life blood. It was wonderful this feeling! He was so used to drinking from druggies; he had almost forgotten what innocent blood tasted like. It was heaven!
He closed his eyes in bliss… And her memories flooded him.
Her when she was little, holding up her first lost tooth to her mother.
When she had skinned her knee and her daddy had carried her home in his arms and how safe she had felt.
Her first day of school.
The memories got darker.
Her father’s funeral when she had been in 3rd grade.
Her mother’s depression.
The loss of her little brother to drugs.
Inuyasha, he had been her only friend.
His drug abuse.
His death.
He pulled back gasping for air. Her pain swirled around him and in his mind. He had the power to take these memories away from her… Should he? She would be happier without them.
Kagome was limp in his arms. He had almost taken too much blood. Her heart hammered against her chest. He would rid her of these memories. Take them away… She had such a beautiful soul. She would be happy.

Kagome woke with a start and looked around her room. When had she come home? She didn’t remember. What had she been doing? She didn’t remember that either. She stood up and looked around the room. It was in a way unfamiliar. It looked as if she had not cleaned it in days. Had she been sick?
She walked into her kitchen, and glanced at the counter. There was a note… And a bank card. The letter read:
“The marks on your neck are a keepsake from me. They signify your need to be free, and so I have freed you. Be happy Kagome.”
Kagome stared at it blankly. She had no idea what it meant. And the card? It had her name on it. Maybe she had dropped it and this person had given it back. She felt her neck and felt the marks on it. A keepsake?
She shook her head.
She put the card in her wallet and walked out the door… into her new life.
