As the clock struck midnight and the bells chimed in the cool and crisp night air, the doors to the western palace flew open with strength of a small girl sprinting out with a long white silver kimono that reached far to the ground with sapphire dragons crossing each other and ended above where her pert breasts lay. On her feet were a pair of matching sapphire gem slippers that beat the ground silently as the girl ran far away from the palace and the man she spent dancing with.

'Before the clock strikes midnight ye must return to ye home for the spell shall wear off and ye shall be but a lowly servant of ye master'

As the girl hurried along on the path, she didn't notice the innocent little stone lying helplessly on the ground, when she tripped she gasped softly but caught herself but lost the beautifully carved sapphire slipper. She bent to pick up her shoe but her eyes widened when she noticed the man she danced with earlier that night was rushing towards her telling her to stop and wait for him. She stood up straight, forgetting about the helpless slipper and dashed into the shadows of the forest before the man could catch up to her and capture her.

As the man slowed down to a stop, he looked at the helpless small sapphire slipper that lay innocently on the ground and bent to pick it up. He stood up straight with a cold expression on his face but his golden hued eyes told a whole different story as he watched the shadows silently.

Once when the girl thought she was far enough away from the man she had met that night she closed her eyes and smiled but it quickly vanished when she thought that she would never see the man ever again because of her low status she held. She frowned more when she felt the last of the magic wear off and the beautiful kimono she came to adore disappear from her being and in place lay torn a pink kimono she had planned on wearing earlier that night.

"Kagome!" She jumped lightly when she heard small but loud voices shout her name and smiled a smile that fully didn't reach her eyes as she gazed down to her animal friends she had saved from the evil clutches of her step-family. "Look Kagome, look!" They shouted again and pointed at something glittering in the bush next to her. She crawled to her knees and moved the bush and gasped at what she saw.

A lonely sapphire slipper.

A/n: Ah, this is short not even a full page, but it's only the prologue. I'll see if I can write the actual first chapter sometime soon. I'm rather busy...getting my school things, I have a big project that I need to finish still. Anyways, I hope you enjoy my first story.
