Unfaithful by Kanela
Regret
Early morning sunrays seeped through the window. A resting couple was lying in bed; naked beneath the sheets of the huge bed they had shared for almost a year now. The woman, who still seemed pretty young -just starting her twenties-, rested her head in her lover's shoulder, while her hand made eight-like patterns across his chest.
"I really should get going," said the girl -no, woman- raising herself on her elbows, looking at him.
The man turned his eyes to meet hers, his icy golden stare one of annoyance, while his whole façade remained intact. Just as seemingly bored as ever. But she knew better.
"You are going back to him." His words were more a statement than a question.
She gazed down to her hands over his chest, trying to hide her saddened expression.
"You know I have to."
"Leave him." He commanded, but on the inside, he was begging.
She lifted her head, almost outraged. "What did you just said?"
"I said leave him."
A frown appeared, marring her beautiful features.
"Why? I thought we were already over... this." She asked, her soft voice hurt and... hard. Yes, hard, he thought.
"You are not happy with the whelp."
"You know nothing." Snarled the woman, lifting herself out of bed. She looked out for her discarded garments, wishing to leave as soon as possible. But the man grabbed her half-naked body from behind, sneaking his strong arms around her waist, preventing her from finishing dressing. Stopping her from leaving him.
"I know enough," he whispered in her ear, sending chills down her spine, igniting fire in her lower belly. She froze in his arms, savoring the feeling of his hardness on her back. "I know you want me, not him. I know you crave for my touch, not his." I know you LOVE me, not him.
Her spine tensed as he cupped her breast with one large hand, the other one never leaving her waist. But the sting of forming tears behind her eyes dulled every other sensation.
"When are you going to understand that you belong to me, here with me?" He turned her around and leveled their gaze. "I had you first, Kagome. You are mine." He stated his words with a kiss upon her lips, but she did not fight it. Nor responded to it. She rather stood still, waiting for him to stop.
And stop he did. "What's the matter?"
"Do you love me?" she asked, the tremble in her voice threatening to crack her.
He simply stared at her, ever so silently. She took a step backwards as his grasp loosened, not leaving his eyes.
"Then you still know nothing, Sesshoumaru". She finished dressing, took her purse, and stepped out of his apartment.
As she left the building, she felt her freedom leaving her again. It had stayed inside, along with her soul. And now she walked home half-empty, half-alone; remorse looming in her heart, her guilt walking beside her, haunting her...breaking her. She wouldn't last longer if she kept on like this.
Oh, but she loved both brothers. They were her precious boys, her beloved ones.
One was her life, while the other HELD her life. Soul mate, true love, friend, lover, husband... These are supposed to describe your special person, and be found if not at the same time, at least on the same person. But she found most of them in someone other than her fiancé...way too late. She thought her feelings were one-sided so she chose one of them.
And made the biggest mistake in her life.

He watched her walk away through the streets of Tokyo. Alone. And he wished she never had to leave him.
He cursed his brother for having a party; and his father for forcing him, Sesshoumaru, to assist.
He cursed the rain for trapping him in the lobby of his apartment complex, and double-cursed it for making a beautiful girl find shelter in there.
He cursed the slippery marble floor of the lobby for making her slip and fall to his arms. He cursed her lovely blush and sweet "gomen nasai" 's.
He cursed the moment he invited her over to the whelp's party, and when she smiled tenderly as he offered to drive her there as soon as his car came from the valet.
He cursed his clients when they called right after arriving to the party.
He cursed the woman he had left HER with; and hated the bitch for presenting THEM.
He cursed his brother's ex-girlfriend for looking so much like HER.
He dreaded the day the whelp introduced his new girlfriend to the family.
He cursed again his father, for forcing him to take care of her while he had a Father-to-Son talk with his youngster.
He cursed the beautiful moon for shining down on them while they were walking in the massive gardens of his father's house.
He cursed the way she stared at him, and the fact that he stared back.
He cursed the non-existent kiss they shared then.
He cursed the day she confessed she had liked him since the very first moment they met.
He SO fucking HATED the day his brother announced their engagement.

So...this story is back because I feel like it deserves to be completed before Insanity. Had most of the chapters finished when SS died. Hope you stay tunned. (:
