Sneaking a Peek by SunsetMiko
A New Place to Stay
Chapter 58 - A New Place to Stay
*Into the Rain* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)
"We are going to get wet," Sesshoumaru said as the pair stood under the overhang, looking out into the pouring rain. "Are you sure you want to leave?"
"I want to be anywhere but here. I don't care about getting wet." Kagome couldn't handle seeing Inuyasha again, not yet. He'd hurt her badly with his thoughtless words. He'd been trying to convince her that she needed his protection, and that he knew better than she did, but all he'd succeeded in doing was breaking her heart all over again. She had no idea he thought she was so useless, such a burden. Was it true? Was she really that weak and useless?
"As you wish," Sesshoumaru replied, wanting to strangle his brother. The hanyou had overreacted and now he'd hurt the miko deeply. The taiyoukai had no idea how to deal with a crying woman, but apparently it was his responsibility to comfort her, and he would, as soon as he had taken her away from the cabin that held all of her friends. He wasn't sure where to take her, but he decided he would figure it out along the way. She was desperate to escape and he would do as she'd asked him and take her away.
*Sky Stroll* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)
With his arm still wrapped around her waist, Sesshoumaru formed his youki cloud and lifted off into the pouring rain. Visibility was poor, and so he chose to fly high to avoid any possible collisions with tall trees. He pulled her close, his moko-moko wrapping around her to shield her from the sharp sting of the water. As they flew, the rain slowed and he could finally see the ground below them.
He smirked as he realized where they were. They were near another of his cabins, a special one. This particular cabin was Rin's favorite and came fully equipped with a garden he was certain Kagome would love. Sesshoumaru slowed and landed just outside. When Kagome said nothing, he realized that she still had her face buried against his chest. He'd left without collecting his armor, but at least he'd remembered his swords. He could not be without them with such a precious package in his care.
"Kagome," he said softly. "We are here."
Slowly, Kagome pulled away and looked up. "Where's here?"
"I found us another shelter. We should get inside." He felt her shiver and knew it was important to get her dried off and warmed up. Humans fell ill so easily and he did not want to lose her to something so simple. If she got sick, Inuyasha would pay for it. It was his fault she'd wanted to escape so badly.
*Rainy Lady* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)
Sesshoumaru guided Kagome inside and unwrapped his moko-moko from her shivering form. "You are soaked to the bone," he said.
The miko looked up and him and cracked up, giggling uncontrollably. "You look like a drowned rat!" she exclaimed.
"You do not look much better," he shot back.
"At least my clothes aren't see-through," she teased.
"Actually, they are," he replied with a smirk. A blush bloomed on her cheeks and he smiled a genuine smile. "Come, let's find you something else to wear."
"Like what?" she asked.
"I keep spare clothing at all of my residences. You can wear one of my haori."
