Toxic
A/N: Now, you all can hate me for the ending of this chapter. This chapter was written with the purpose of causing one emotion. Lets see if anyone gets it!
A/N 2: Do not bother to look up ‘Tears of Scarlet' that book is a book that I've written a long time ago and never published. Don't even think of finding it one day. Its something that will never come to be. It was a great story, but it was never finished and it was lost a long time ago. And I do not re write things. Its something that I cannot physically do. As for ‘Winter Blossom' One day (Not knowing when) it will be on the shelves at book stores everywhere. Its not something that I have written but my soon to be husband has and that will be at bookstores every where. I asked him if I could put on that title and he said it was okay. Anyways, on with the story!

Chapter four: Toxic
Kagome sighed happily as she stared at her favorite book store. Already she felt as if she was in heaven. With as much homework as she had, she didn't have the chance to come here and spend all day drowning in the sea of books.
It was a hidden desire that she held. Something that she loved more then history, or cherry blossoms, or even telling fairy tales. Even sex wasn't as high as just reading books. Of course, none of her friends knew. No one knew about her hidden obsession. She even went as far as going two stations over so she could get lost in her desire. The last time someone she knew found her in a book store, they talked over and over again, ruining her day.
Humming happily she walked inside and instantly found herself in the fantasy section. She scanned the many shelves before picking out one called ‘Tears of Scarlet'. Sitting down in the café, she soon lost herself within the pages.
Kagome didn't know how much time she spent reading the story. All she knew was that the character Finbar was obviously in love with the main character May. Even though he was stubborn, rash, and even some times a jerk. Maybe being a demon, or as earthen folk turned demon was the problem. Oh and letting his sister get beheaded before his eyes.
"So what's your favorite part so far?" A voice said, cutting into the story.
Without looking up, she answered, "So far, the whole story. The way the author portrays all the characters. I've read many first person stories, but this one so far is pretty good. Having May being the main character and her thoughts while she has these adventures to try and save humanity from her evil turned sister is pretty good. It holds passion, anger, sadness." She looked up finally and instantly her good mood ended. For right before her was the one person she really didn't want to see while she was diving into her pleasures.
"Good afternoon Taisho-sensei. Do you like stalking your students?" She bit out.
Sesshomaru chuckled at her words. So maybe he didn't reach his goal and won her over during summer break. School only started a couple months ago. He knew he could win her over in that amount of time if he just worked her a little bit more. That and watching Koga get shot down, he didn't have to hurry.
"Actually Higurashi-san, this bookstore is somewhere where I come to relax. I cannot relax at home with Inuyasha staying there for a while. As for that book, Tears of Scarlet happens to be one of my favorite books. An American writer wrote that book. Her husband wrote another famous piece called Winter Blossom. It's a fantastic one and I recommend that you read it."
Kagome blinked in surprise. Her teacher actually read the books that she reads! Instantly they dived into a conversation about the books, one that she certainly enjoyed. Finally she looked at he clock and her eyes widened in shock.
"Oh my god... it's already that late? I really need to get going home." She picked up the book to purchase it. Before she paid, a hand touched her shoulder.
"Allow me to pay for that Kagome." Sesshomaru said to her as he pulled out his wallet.
Kagome looked at him, shocked for a moment before shaking her head. "Taisho-sensei, really you shouldn't. I mean, I really couldn't ask you to do this."
A small chuckle escaped his lips. "Don't worry about it. Take it as me thanking you for indulging me in an intelligent conversation. With Inuyasha in the house, seeing someone who loves books as well as I is a pleasure. So allow me to pay for it."
With a sigh, Kagome watched as her teacher paid for her new book.
She walked out with him, once more thanking him for buying her the book and for the conversation. "I guess we'll see each other in the classroom tomorrow?"
The silver haired man gave a small nod. "Indeed. I hope you finished your homework already. There's going to be a pop quiz."
Kagome groaned when she heard that. "Great... well at least I'll know about it." She sighed when she heard the sound of barking. Blinking, Kagome looked over to see a semi large dog looking at her before barking again. It then turned and run, only to stop and look behind him, barking again.
"Um... I think it wants us to follow him." Kagome said, taking a couple steps forward.
Sesshomaru arched a sliver eyebrow. "Kagome, I do believe that that wouldn't be a smart idea."
Rolling her eyes, Kagome took off after the dog. "Then stay here Sesshomaru." She didn't see what was so wrong about following a dog. Maybe its master was in danger or something.
She followed the dog down a couple of blocks till finally it ran into some ally. Without thinking, she ran right inside.
"Well, looks like you brought me a prize this time." A voice chuckled from the shadows. The dog was wagging its tail at its master as a man walked out, a knife in his hands. "Now little lady, how about you give me all your valuables and get down on your knees?"
Kagome glared at the man. "Your some sick bastard you know that? Using a dog to attract unexpecting people then robbing them. And do you honestly think that little knife is going to do anything?"
The man chuckled at her. "Its stupid people like you that follows my Sebastian thinking that something is wrong. Honestly little lady, things like that only happen in story books. As for my knife, I'm sure that it's a more then a match for you. It's coated with many different kinds of toxins. Enough to cripple an elephant. So how about you give up here and now?"
There was a small snort behind Kagome. "Really Kagome, you should listen to me more often."
Kagome turned to see Sesshomaru standing next to her, a stoic look on his face. "Sesshomaru? You actually followed me?" She asked, surprised.
He looked down at her, golden meeting brown. "You think I would leave you alone?"
The man growled, hating to be ignored. "Will you stop ignoring me?" He yelled as he lunged at the two.
Everything seemed to slow down. Kagome saw him as he aimed his knife at Sesshomaru, his eyes full of insanity that proved the man wasn't all there. Without thinking, Kagome pushed her teacher out of the way and as she turned, the feeling of the knife biting into her stomach. A small gasp escaped her lips as searing pain pulsed though out her body. The next thing she saw shocked her the most.
Sesshomaru stood there, pure rage shaking his whole body. In her delirious state, she could have sworn that his eyes even turned red. He grabbed her attacker by the neck, and with strength that she had never seen before, throw him hard against the dumpster that it left a large dent in it.
Her legs couldn't support her any more and she collapsed there on the ground, the knife out of the wound. Her vision was swarming, her mind blackening. The only thing that was going though it was when he spoke of toxins on the blade.
‘Stupid...' She though. ‘Who the hell uses poisons on blades now and days? I can't believe I'm going to die here because of some stupid short blade that had something as pathetic as toxins.'
She could hear his voice calling to her, someone else was nearby too. Probably calling for help. Or at least she hoped. She tried to focus her attention on the being before her. He eyes finally giving out. The last thing she remembered hearing before darkness overtook her was her name.
