chapter 1: lost memories

A/N: I don't own inuyasha! Although I do hope to own Sesshoumaru someday.

I rated it as M just incase i decide to put a lemon but i'm not sure yet.. lol!

She opened her eyes and saw darkness.

"I guess it's night time," she thought. "Maybe I should just go back to sleep."

She closed her eyes once again but before she could go back to sleep, she felt an unpleasant feeling course through her body and she thought that she needed to shift her position in order to get rid of the uncomfortable sensation that she was feeling. However, as she was repositioning her body, she felt a stabbing pain at the left side of her head and as she opened her eyes, she was surprised by the sight that greeted her.

Contrary to what she originally thought, she was not in lying in a bed but was in fact inside a damaged car. Shattered glass and blood could be seen everywhere. The windows in the front seat were broken by an enormous tree branch that found its place beside the driver's seat. She felt a searing pain in her head and realized that she must have hit it on the window beside her.

She was calm throughout the whole ordeal until she smelled something odd inside the car. She panicked as she realized that it was the small but gradually growing fire that was at a dangerously close distance to her vehicle.

"I have to get out of here before the car explodes," she thought as she opened the car door and groggily stepped out. She walked a few meters away from the car and soon enough, a big explosion occurred. Her car had erupted to flames as she sunk into the ground while helplessly watching her car burn.

"I wonder how I got here," she mused. "Hmm.. where am I?" She felt another surge of panic as she realized that she didn't know where she was. She tried to remember what she was doing before the accident took place but she couldn't. She realized that she couldn't remember anything - not where she was, not what she was doing, and, most importantly, not who she was. She tried to sift through different memories of her past but nothing came to her. She could still count. Yes, she could even do math. Hell, she could even recite the Pledge of Allegiance in her head without a sweat. But she couldn't remember anything about herself. She felt tears start to run down her cheeks as she realized that her mind was a complete blank.

Then, to her joy, she heard voices of men talking close by. She squinted her eyes a bit and saw two men near the burning flames. She could see that one of the men had a tattoo of an octopus beside his right eye. She was about to ask for help but her voice suddenly got caught in her throat as she heard the man with the octopus tattoo shout in outrage.

"She's not here," he exclaimed. "The boss will be pretty pissed when he finds out about this."

"We have to find her before she gets away," the other one said. "... and when we do find her, let's make sure she never sees the light of day again."

"You idiot! Didn't you listen to what the boss said? We can't just kill her. We have to make it look like an accident so that no one would suspect a thing. We have to report this to the boss but first, let's search the area and see if she's here somewhere. She couldn't have gone far."

"And what should we do when we find her?"

"hmm... Well, she doesn't know us, she obviously doesn't know what we look like and she probably doesn't even know that her car was sabotaged so..."

"I see where you're going with this.. hahaha! I like the way you think. So we should pretend to help her and when she falls for our trap..."

"We finish what we started... Bwahahaha..."

Her eyes grew wide as she listened to their conversation. She hid herself behind one of the trees near the area but she never took her eyes off the two. She silently wondered who these guys were but when she heard one of them mention killing her, she decided to distance herself from the as far as possible. She opted to look for help in the nearest road she could find. Unfortunately, she didn't hear the tattooed guy say, "Come on, she might be at the highway looking for help."
