She was uncomfortable...really uncomfortable. She thought the cardboard and paper would have offered some protection from the cooler air of his apartment but it did little as it trapped much of the cool air against her bare skin. This had to be the stupidest idea she had ever come up with, Kagome told herself. She was broke, couldn't afford anything he'd truly like and this was the best she could come up with. Sesshoumaru was going to laugh at her.
If she was lucky he wouldn't take a picture to capture the moment. He had a habit of snapping the camera during her most embarrassing moments. Groaning, she tried to position herself on his bed, knowing he would come straight in here as soon as he walked through the front door. He'd be able to smell her. She could already see the predatory gleam that would appear in his eye, despite the fact that he didn't like people entering his apartment without his permission. She was the only exception.
A corner of the large coloured box that covered her from her neck to mid thigh caught itself on the edge of the bed, sending her tumbling forward. Why she ever chose to put herself in a large box, she'd never know. Maybe it'd have been better if she put on lingerie and slapped a bow on herself. Seriously, she wouldn't be as uncomfortable. No, she had to be different. She had to be unique.
This was just stupid.
She took a moment to right herself, tucking her feet in underneath her so she was kneeling on the bed. She was thankful she had cut out the bottom of the box so she was at least comfortable sitting on the bed. The soft mattress and the silky sheets at least offered her some warmth from the cool air. She reached out with her hands and grabbed the brightly coloured top of the box, fingering the large silver bow she had stuck to it before pulling it over her head. It slipped easily into place and momentarily she was enshrouded in darkness, resting her head on her knees. It was going to be a long wait. She only hoped he chose to come home from work on time tonight.

He was home early and could smell her the minute he walked in the door. Grinning lasciviously, he dropped his bag and made his way toward the back bedroom. His miko was nothing if not predictable and he knew the minute he had told her that today was his birthday, she'd have something planned. He didn't necessarily celebrate birthdays, being too old to really care if he was turning another year or not. They all just sort of melded together in the end. But she cared. She had demanded to know then was outraged when she had learned it was so soon. He recalled the fire in her eyes when she informed him that she didn't have enough time to earn enough money to take him somewhere nice and buy him a gift. He didn't need gifts from her, and he was more than willing to pay for a nice dinner out. The fact that she didn't have money didn't bother him. His had accumulated over a thousand years. Being twenty-three, she was just barely getting on her feet. But the fire that night had sparked something that he far preferred to material goods.
At the moment he was confused. Her sweet scent wafted at him, as it did often whenever she chose to come over and surprise him, but she wasn't simply just waiting for him. She was nervous, embarrassed. What had the girl gotten herself into now? Shaking his head he could do nothing but chuckle. Kagome was the type of girl to get herself in to all kinds of trouble. He had to admit, with her around there was never a dull moment. His old life of work at work and work at home was tossed aside when she came around. She made sure he didn't overwork himself.
Opening the bedroom door he scanned the room, looking for her, taking a quick sniff before his eyes settled on the ridiculously decorated, oversized box on his bed. Smirking, he noted this was just like his miko. She wrapping paper, covered in white puppies and the large silver bow fit exactly with her persona. Dropping his bags at the entrance way, his hand slipped to his neck, loosening his tie before dropping it completely. His jacket fell with it.
He could smell her anticipation increase. She knew he was there. Sitting on the bed next to the box, he decided to ignore it for a moment, taking pleasure in the quick irritation he felt from her. Reaching down he removed his socks, slowly, one by one, glad to be free of the contraptions. His dress shirt slipped from his shoulders, leaving him in a wife beater, and his slacks. Glancing down this was precisely the look he wanted. She was never able to resist it. Standing up once more he loomed over the box and carefully lifted the lid.
"Well well well," he murmured as he peaked inside. "A naked miko. I believe I already have one. I guess I'll just have to return this one." He lifted the cover once more, slowly bringing it over the box.
Outrage and indignation filled her face, causing her eyes to light up again, just the way he liked them. "Hey!" She stood, tossing the box aside, presenting him with a full view of the body he dreamed about coming home to all day. "Give me my clothes, you ass. I'm going home. This was hard enough as it was."
Chuckling, he grabbed her as she stalked by, pulling her flush against him, reveling in the softness of her body. "Well, since you went to all this trouble I may as well try you out as well, give me a point of comparison."
"There is no comparison," she huffed, though she yielded to him.
"No, indeed there is not."
