Melting His Icy Heart by Priestess Ashley

Kagome's Tears and Sesshomaru's Help

           Kagome's Tears and Sesshomaru's Help

"Move miko," Sesshomaru glared menacingly at her, never blinking once as Kagome stood in front of him. Her arms were spread out wide as she stopped him from leaving. Behind him, the body of a dear friend laid, dead. Tears were on the edge of her eyes and she was sniffling harshly as she yelled at him.

"No, you have to help! Please! You can't let Shippo die!!!" The small fox demon's corpse was bleeding rapid from the left shoulder. His heart was stabbed in less than a second by a long brown arrow, just before Kikyo left. Inuyasha and the others were no where to be seen. Kagome's heart broke at his small body, so much that she could almost hear the pieces shattering more.

Growling, Sesshomaru turned his head back and stared at the lifeless fox. Inwardly, he admitted it was a sad way for him to die. And Sesshomaru witnessed it. The tiny kit was just walking next to Kagome as they were on their way to the well when Kikyo appeared a few meters back aiming the arrow at Kagome. But, being a demon, Shippo sensed her. He turned his head and gasped as Kikyo let it fly, directly aiming it towards Kagome. Swallowing his fear, Shippo jumped in the way and the arrow pierced his heart. His body hit Kagome's leg falling down to the ground, motionless. Kagome gasped as she watched Kikyo leave, not even showing any care for the kit.

That's how they come to here. Sesshomaru appeared and Kagome automatically sensed him, and prayed that he would help.  But the sorrow of the death overwhelmed her, causing her to brake down in front of him. Her body sat on the ground, sobs shaking her figure. Sesshomaru could remember Rin crying like this, how she would wake up and sob for the loss of her family. He would stand up and walk over to her, pulling her close to him so that she would cry on his chest. But this was different. Kagome isn't Rin, besides their appearances, they were completely different. Only, they felt the same sorrow and would be help the same as well.

Pulling Tensaiga from its sheath, he swung at the hell demons that were around Shippo's body. Turning away from the awakening fox kit, he began walking away, leaving the small girl on the ground to weep. But suddenly, a pang of guilt hit his heart as he heard her crying from a distance. The smell of the salty tears burned his nose as she grew quieter, but still whimpering softly.

"Miko," Kagome blinked twice before turning towards him. Shippo by now was watching the scene silently. Sesshomaru continued, "Do not cry, for the fox is alive now. Leave before a demon or the dead wench come and kill you or the kit." And with that, he left.

"Uh, thank you?" Kagome turned to the now awoken kit and pulled him into her arms, standing up to leave. Whispering quietly, Kagome began to saunter of towards the hut, "Thank you, Sesshomaru."  Shippo said a small thanks and the left, heading back to Kaede's hut and to their friends. The thing Kagome and Shippo both were wondering though was why he helped them.

Unknown to them both, dark malicious eyes glared at the girl and kit, swearing under her breathe about Sesshomaru's appearance. Her long black hair swayed in the wind as she walked off, mumbling under her breath, "I will kill you one day, Kagome. And next time, Sesshomaru won't be there to save you."
