Kagome woke from a dead sleep to a childish scream coming from the field behind their campfire. Before she could even get out of the sleeping bag, a blur in red streaked past her. The moon was full so she could see him as he sprinted ahead. She caught up with him when he suddenly froze. Bumping into his back, she was surprised when he reached a hand out to grab her but froze before they touched. "What?"
"The Ice Lord is here." He marked off a step but froze as a low growl came from the bushes. A hand touched his shoulder and he shuddered in dread as the growl become more vicious at the touch.
"It's okay InuYasha." The young woman stepped around his frozen form and looked into the clearing to get a better idea of what was happening. Suddenly she giggled. Rin appeared to be running crazily all over the place but upon closer inspection Kagome could see her chasing a small creature. "Oh, it's a yard rat!"
InuYasha cocked his head as if she had suddenly turned strange. Considering the truth of her origin and all the things she'd introduced him to, that was saying quite a bit. "A what?"
"A squirrel." She looked out as Rin suddenly lunged towards the creature and fell on the ground.
"I need my brassiere nut back!" She picked herself up and started back after the beast.
Kagome choked. "Rin, what are you looking for?" She stepped into the clearing.
"Sesshoumaru-sama gave me a brassiere nut and this creature took it from me!"
Kagome looked around, surprised to see that the demon was no where around. "Where is Sesshoumaru-sama?"
Rin didn't stop running as she answered. "He will be back. He told me to stay here."
InuYasha narrowed his eyes in suspicion and looked at the suddenly blushing Kagome. "Do you know something about this?"
Kagome smiled with a teasing light in her eyes that made the creature in the bushes smirk naughtily and made the creature in front of her scowl even further. "I have no idea what you are talking about." Suddenly she turned back to the action going on behind her. "Rin, stay away from that creature. I'll bring you another Brazil nut next time I go home."
Rin suddenly walked over. "Okay, thanks Kagome."
Kagome smiled. "You're welcomed. See you tomorrow night."
"With the nut?"
"Uh, no I can't get home but you'll get one as soon as I can."
"Okay. And I'll tell Sesshoumaru-sama you came by to see him."
A blush ran up Kagome's face. "Actually, we came to see you. Have a good evening Rin." Frustrated at the situation, InuYasha bounded ahead leaving Kagome to walk back alone.
Suddenly a dark shadow formed beside her. "And I am out of fill her ups."
Kagome froze. "Filberts?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "Whatever it is called. We need to take care of that problem soon." He lightly ran his fingers across the back of her neck as he disappeared.
"Pervert!" His husky laughter followed her all the way back to camp.
