Perfect Snowflakes

Perfect Snow Flakes

Snow Flakes, so perfect. Perfect just like him. So Perfect and that's when I learned that perfect kills perfect perfectly. It was snowing that night with the perfect snowflakes, the ones that actual had the crystalline structures that are said to never repeat. I find it to be a challenge so every time it snows the perfect snowflakes I have to go out and try and find the matching pair. It was something I had always done ever since I was a child, even while I was still fighting against Naraku and searching for Shikon shards I would find the time to sit and watch.

It wasn't until it was all over that I had come home and the well finally closed, the wooden slates were put back over its gapping maw and many years now separating me and my last journey back that I found the perfect companion to share in my endeavors. Someone as perfect and as cold as the snow itself yet he seemed to share his secret warmth with only myself and no others, not even the people whom called us family. But that didn't matter now, no that didn't matter now and never again.

It was midnight that night when the perfect snowflakes began to fall, the silence that consumed us woke me, upon seeing such perfection I couldn't help but rouse my own perfection from sleep. For a split second I had debated on whether or not to simply let the sleeping dog lay but it was so much better when he was there to enjoy it with me. With a smirk and a nod he slipped on his boots, threw on his coat, even though I knew he didn't need it, following me to the door. Stopping briefly in the door way we kissed passionately as we made a habit of doing everywhere where mistletoe was hung, including the bundle hanging from the torii gate over the steps towards my natal home.

Leaving our perfect little home we walked down to our favorite park to our bench where we sat and began to examine the perfect snowflakes that had fallen upon our black gloves. Finding a particularly perfect snowflake I held it up for my own perfection to look upon as he lowered his for me to look at and there lying in our perfect hands were the perfect twin snowflakes. That was when the screeching came, sharp and blunt like someone punching my ear drum and it kept coming. Closer and closer until I finally looked just in time to see red and white and red and white go flipping and tumbling over my head into the park behind me as something red a hot splashed across my face. My perfection no longer by my side. Looking back over at the burning wreckage of what had once been a red Silvia now pinning my perfection under it.

Screaming his name I ran to him, ignoring the pain from the heat burning my flesh. Still I screamed his name as I watched him struggle to lift the car from him but he was unable to get his arms under him enough to push properly. Without thinking I grabbed the Silvia to help pull it off but the heated metal burned through the gloves scorching my imperfect hands. Looking back at my perfection I couldn't help notice that even burning alive and bleeding to death he still looked so perfect.  He then frowned at me, not understanding I opened my mouth to say his name but then he tripped me and I fall backward away from the burning Silvia just as it exploded.

After that the world seemed to fade away. My heart stopped beating yet it kept beating. The paramedics came; they lifted the Silvia and dragged his body out from under it, they dragged the drivers' body out from within it. I watched dead to the world; dead to myself. They tried to clean his blood from my face but I wouldn't let them, it was the last thing I had of him.

That was five days from Christmas and now I sit here Christmas eve alone; watching those perfect snowflakes fall knowing that it was a lie. Two snowflakes can be alike and demons aren't immortal. Unable to sleep I have taken to wandering the house all day and all night. My legs hurt, my stomach hurts, my head hurts, my eyes hurt, my heart hurts, I don't want to hurt any more. Without thought I grab the mistletoe dashing up the stairs into our room; mine and my perfections room. Sitting on his side of the bed I devour the parasitic plant and curl up into our blankets breathing deeply of his scent now only waiting for death.

" Sesshomaru."
