Kagome chewed on the side of her pen as she read her textbook, brows tented in deep concentration. Finals were next week, and her Ancient Civilizations professor was a stickler for the reading. Every word she could soak into her brain and add to her collective knowledge was a potential edge to have on the exam, so Kagome combed over every sentence.
A dramatic sigh sounded next to her.
She gave a soft laugh, "Just ten more minutes, Sesshomaru."
The demon lord flopped back down in the grass, staring up at the sky. He'd discarded his armor somewhere, simply wearing his haori, hakama, and luxurious boa. It made it easier for her to cuddle against him, and try as he might to act indifferent, Kagome knew Sesshomaru preferred it that way as well.
"You said that ten minutes ago, sneaky vixen," he complained, though it didn't have any bite to it.
Kagome took her orange highlighter and ran it over a sentence in her book. "I just need to skim this section and get the important parts to look over when I go home later," she told him, not looking up from her book.
"These exams hardly seem worth the trouble," Sesshomaru said, turning on his side. "Clearly, you will be spending all your time on this side of the well, thus, thesetedious study sessions are wildly unnecessary."
She giggled, finally glancing at him, "Is that so?"
"Hn, yes," he told her with a sage nod. He peered at her with warm golden eyes, "Does this Sesshomaru not please you?"
Kagome leaned back against the tree she rested on, smiling over at him, "Oh, he pleases me greatly. Do I please him?"
"This one would not be so patient if you did not," he told her.
She lifted an eyebrow, "Patient? You keep interrupting this tedious study session, making it last longer."
"Because I can smell your stress, my beloved intended," he purred at her. "It is all over your scent, and this one wishes to ease your unhappiness." In a flash, he snatched the book from her lap, "This is the source of your displeasure, and I shall distract you from it for the time being. That was the agreement, was it not?"
Kagome grumbled, "Yes."
"And I have allowed you to violate it, because you expressed the importance of these exams, and I did not wish to upset you further. Is this true?" he asked, closing the book and setting it aside.
"Yes."
"Then come here and let me distract you," Sesshomaru demanded. He didn't wait for a response, and simply pulled her atop him.
Kagome yelped, but giggled once she was so close to him, tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear, "Hey."
"Hello, vixen," he murmured, golden eyes soft as he wound his fingers into her hair. "Are you happy now?"
She nodded, "Yes, milord. And once I graduate, I'm all yours."
"Hn," Sesshomaru purred. "I do love the sound of that…"
