It All started with a Book by Natasha

The Book

It had been seven years since the well had closed. Taking a sip of steaming tea the women let out a longing sigh before placing her cup back down upon her desk. Her fingers gently flew across computer keys as she continued her story. About the girl who fell down the well.

“Milord!” Came the rushed breath of his long time friend and secretary Takashi. Golden eyes watched as the yokai, quickly shut his office door before placing a book upon his desk.

“Milord, I believe you should read this, right away actually.” The panther demon pushed the book closer to his lord. When his lord still glared at the book upon his desk he flipped it over to show his name written on the back. Not the name he currently used in the current time but the name he was birthed with. Not only was his name written on the book so was his cursed half brother. Upon further examination, his brothers once upon a time friends were also written in the book's description. The book was about the defeat of Naruko. The demon his half brothers companions and himself had killed over 500 years ago. He had never found a text about it before. Flipping the book back to the cover his eyes skimmed for the author. Higurashi, K.

Interesting.

“Where did you find this Takashi?” His cold voice doing nothing to his former head general.

“It was in a window of a bookstore I passed by on my way to work.”

“Interesting, it seems to be published as a fantasy novel?” His eyes glanced up to his secretary.

“Yes Milord, I skimmed through it and it seems to be about a woman and your half brother. Least as far as I have gotten. Your name has yet to be mentioned in the book.” His golden gaze lowered to the book, yes this intrigued him.

Clawed fingers placed the book back upon his desk. He gave a nod to Takashi before the man left from the dismissal. He continued his work, though his mind kept drawing to the damned book on his desk. Deciding work was the last thing getting done he grabbed the book before heading towards the elevator. Seeing Takashi smile at him over his desk as he hit the button to go to the main floor.

The main floor held clothing stores, a cafe, and a few restaurants. Then in the back held a small market. This building was owned by him, he had it built many years ago as a safe haven of sorts. He ran a multimillion dollar corporation. All employees were demons, with the exception of Rin’s kin. Who kept a closed mouth on the subject. He created a work environment that kept the demon race feeling safe. Rins kin handled the front desk. Humans were not allowed into the building but if some managed to get in they were able to look like a human corporation. Once allowed past the doors, that's when you would be greeted with the mall-like main floor. As the bell dinged and the doors opened he glided his way to the cafe. Demons walked about the place with no fear to hide their unworldly looks.

When he seated himself at the cafe a woman immediately brought him his usual cup of espresso. Opening the book he began reading. He skimmed through the intro, not caring about his half brother or the wench who seemed too infatuated with him. After an hour of reading he came to the scene with which he was now in. Golden eyes opened wide when he the wench who would be the main character of this book was now the Miko from his past. The women who helped save the world from devastation. What was Miko's name? Did it start with a K? Ripping his cell phone from his pocket he quickly texted an acquaintance of his. IT was not long till a pink came back.

“Her name was Kagome.”

It had started with a K, SLamming the book shut he left a hefty amount of cash on the table before briskly walking to the parking garage. Dialing his Takashi’s number he waited for the man to answer.

“Find the other of this book. You have ten minutes to get me a number.” He hung up as he slammed the door to his silver Lamborghini Veneno. WHipping out of the parking garage he made his way back to his mansion.

It could not be the same woman. It was not possible. She was human. How could she have survived all this time? Was it a great great grandchild? Possibly writing out from a diary?

The gates to his mansion opened as he pulled up, driving through without giving regard to the gateman. His driveway was long, he enjoyed privacy and was not about to give it up by making his house known. Granted it has been featured in magazines, but he was never home during the photoshoot. He had house staff for that, they would ensure no one entered where they did not belong, such has his private chamber. The magazines got a fake master suite setup, when in actuality that suit was for formal guests a long time ago.

His phone rang as he walked into his home. Looking at the glowing screen reading Takeshi's name he answered.

“I have a number Milord. Would you like to contact the women yourself or shall I schedule a meeting?”

“I will contact this woman myself, that is all.” He hung up the phone before storming to his personal office. He quickly searched for Kagome Higurashi online. There seems to be nothing about the women. Deciding it must not be heard he searched the author name. Still no images of the women. What author didn't put a face to a name?

It was not something he was used to, going off nothing. But the woman who wrote this book had to meet her. His phone lit his face as he opened a blank text message.

“Hello, I have read your book and find it to be fascinating, I am curious as to why this is written for fantasy instead of history.”

He hoped his rather vague message wouldn’t give himself away, but hoped it would give herself away.

“I do not know who you are or how you got my number. But you will be blocked. Creep.”

“Wait. I think we should meet. I believe I know you, though it has been many, many years since then.”

“Where…”

“There is a coffee shop called Latte downtown by the large WestCorp. Building. Could I meet you there at 9am tomorrow morning?”

Now he was the ruler of the West, the savior of the demon race. He was never nervous, but somehow thinking he would meet the women from 500 years ago. Now of all places. He was a bit nervous.

‘I will be there.”

That was it, he would be meeting the women tomorrow. Now how to prepare so she will know who he is? He would have to be wearing his concealing spell, so his looks are out. He won't be able to unleash his aura as that falls with the seal. His eyes widened momentarily when he thought of the perfect item.
