"Kagome-chan, what is this?" the little soft voice asked as it pointed to a picture on her new coloring book.

Kagome looked down at the little girl laying on her belly, crayons scattered all around her. She peeked at the picture she was pointing at and said, "That, Rin-chan, is a whale."

Rin looked at the 'whale' and looked up at her role model, "What's are whales Kagome-chan?" she asked puzzled. She honestly had no idea. Like many of the pictures on the book Kagome brought her from her village, she didn't recognize many of the pictures in it. Kagome had called it a coloring book and crayons, so she used them. She had also said it was filled with pictures of creatures from the ocean, and since she'd never been to an ocean, she was really happy Kagome had given it to her.

Kagome thought about it for a moment, thinking over the answer in her head first. She turned her head to look at the Lord resting not so far from them against a tree and shrugged before answering, "A whale, Rin, is like a fish, only about a hundred times bigger. There is a whale called the Blue Whale, that is about the size of ten castles!" Kagome nearly laughed at the expression on Rin's face, her wide eyes suddenly engulfing her entire face.

"It is said whales are the largest and more strongest beings in all of the sea Rin-chan. They're so strong and powerful they can deflect any predator," Kagome continued, smiling down at the child. She looked up just in time to catch Lord Sesshomaru staring at her, one brow raised. She smiled at him warmly, then turned her attention back to Rin.

Rin furrowed her brows together, thinking. "So, whales are like fish—but bigger?"

Kagome nodded.

"And they are very strong and powerful?" Rin asked again, her brows easing.

Again, Kagome nodded.

Silence....

Rin rested her chin on both her palms as she closed her eyes, her face suddenly taking a look of pure and utter concentration.

"Aha! I got it!" Rin exclaimed after a while.

Kagome turned to look down at her confused. "What do you have Rin-chan?"

Rin jumped to her feet and clapped her hands excitedly. "A whale is just like Lord Sesshomaru! Both like lords of their world and both stronger than the rest!" Rin exclaimed pointing at Sesshomaru. Sesshomaru opened his eyes and narrowed his eyes at Kagome.

Kagome laughed out loud at the child's explanation, and turned to see Sesshomaru glaring at her. She smiled at him and winked, before getting up and walking over to him. "Yes, Rin, he is quite the whale..." Kagome said with an unmistakable glean to her eyes, remembering not so innocent things from the previous night.
