DISCLAIMER: I don't own inuyasha and this story is based off the song whiskey lullaby by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss. I enjoyed writing this. But I also cried..

Kagome and her friends were traveling through the woods. It was getting dark fast. Inuyasha tried to find a place to camp. Then out of nowhere the inu gang were surrounded by hundreds of demons. They all got their weapons ready.

"Where are they all coming from?!" Inuyasha asked no one in particular. They all took their defensive stances. Kagome got her bow ready.

"Kagome get behind me, I can protect you!" Inuyasha yelled.

"I'm okay, I can handle myself." She said. He's been going to see Kikyo more often.

Sesshomaru lost Rin for a third and final time. He didn't cry. But Kagome knew he wanted to. He was broken, that much she noticed.

A demon flew at Kagome. She shot it with her arrow. She had shot all demons that came at her until she had no more arrows. Then, one sent an attack at her. She screamed. She knew she was a goner. Before it got to her an arm wrapped itself around her waist and moved her out of the way. She turned her head to see who saved her.

'Sesshomaru!' Kagome thought looking into his eyes as he placed her on the ground.

"Miko, get behind me." He said softly. Kagome did. He used his acid whip to help kill them all. And those who tried to come up behind him, she shocked with her miko powers. She was fighting at his side.

He saved her.

He was protecting her.

It took one hour to kill all the demons. Sesshomaru stood there afterwards with his back turned to Kagome.

"Sesshomaru?" She asked looking at the back of his head. He turned halfway toward her, and looked at Kagome in the eyes.

"I uh, thank you." She said with a smile. He nodded. But she saw an odd emotion in his eyes. But it disappeared as soon as she seen it.

"What do you want Sesshomaru? And get the fuck away from kagome!" Inuyasha yelled running at Sesshomaru. They crossed blades.

"Why? Why should I listen to a half breed like yourself?" He asked Inuyasha.

"Because kagome is mine to protect!" Inuyasha yelled. Sesshomaru punched him in the face. Sesshomaru seemed like he was pissed at what Inuyasha said.

"It didn't look like you were protecting her brother." Sesshomaru said.

Is Sesshomaru defending her?

Inuyasha ran at Sesshomaru one more time. Sesshomaru then hit Inuyasha in the head knocking him out.

"Waste of air." Sesshomaru said bored like. Sesshomaru turned to Kagome.

He looked at her in the eyes as he was walking up to her. Everyone was watching the two that wasn't knocked out. Sesshomaru could feel their eyes on Kagome and himself. As he got about five feet from her. He changed his course. And his eyes looked straight ahead.

He was gone.

Sango walked up to Kagome.

"What was that about?" She asked. "I don't know." Kagome said. An hour later, night fell on the group. Inuyasha had woken up and went to go see Kikyo, It hurt Kagome, but not near as bad as it use to. Everyone was asleep except Kagome.

She then felt a powerful aura coming their way. She stood and walked in that direction. She made it to a clearing and saw Sesshomaru standing there. He just looked at her. She stepped toward him a little bit.

"Why did you save me?" She asked him. Ever since Inuyasha started running off to Kikyo her feelings slowly drained from loving Inuyasha. But the feelings were still slightly there. But a month ago Sesshomaru showed up to take the Tetsusaiga. Kagome was mesmerized. Sesshomaru starred at her as much as she did him. It was right after he lost Rin.

"Because, I feel a connection to you like I have with no other." He said. her eyes widened. He walked up to Kagome at a slow graceful pace. She didn't back away. She refused. She wanted to see what he would do.

He got so close to her. Their chests were almost touching. "Do you not fear me girl?" He asked. "No, i dont." Was all she said. He raised his right hand to cup her cheek. His other hand, which he just got back. Went to her side. she gasped. "What are you-?" She was interrupted with him leaning in to kiss her.
