The Deal

I down own InuYasha, as it belongs to Rumiko Takashi;  or Once Upon a Time, as it belongs to Adam, Eddy, and ABC.

She had ignored his calling to her... which was mostly him cussing, but still. She had to do this, there was no other way around this. They needed the help. The extra strength. His power. They weren't going to be able to do it without him. She was sure of this.

He was close, Kagome knew. There was a fire going in a nearby clearing, and she could faintly pick up on Rin's quiet humming. She entered the clearing, surprising said child, and her retainer, Jaken. The dragon they sat against picked up its head, sniffed once, and lay it back down in the grass, returning to its slumber.

"Where.... where is Sesshomaru-sama?"

At his name, the wind picked up behind her suddenly and she turned, and just entering the forest from above, and stepping off his cloud was Sesshomaru.

He looked at the human wench of his half-brother in his camp.

"What, may I ask, are you doing?"

Kagome's pushed strength into her legs and willed them not to shake. Not in fear of him, but nervousness. Would he help? She really hoped he would.

"Our journey soon comes to an end. There is only a few shards left: those in Kohaku, the portion Naraku has, those in Koga's legs, and the portion I hold...... I've come to beg of you, for your assistance in our final battle."

He stared at her, unblinkingly. "I will help, for a price."

Her jaw dropped, "what may that be, praytell?"

"Once the battle is won, which it will be, if you enlist my help; you will come with me, and aid me, as my servant."

She gawked, it wasn't such a bad deal, but should she tell him, that she didn't know if she would still be in this time, once the jewel no longer existed? She chewed on her bottom lip. It wasn't something she could help.

"I will do it---"

"KAGOME!"

"Aw hell," she muttered to herself.

InuYasha broke into the clearing, his eyes wide and darting between the two. "Whatever you're planning, I won't have it! You can't do it! We can do this on our own, Kagome!"

She glared at InuYasha, heat in her eyes. "No one decides my fate but me. I shall go."

"It's forever, miko." she could almost see the grin.

"My friends, they will all live?"

"You have my word."

"Then, you have mine. I will go with you forever."

"Deal."

"Kagome... you can't do this, you can't go with this bastard."

Sesshomaru's face feigns offence.

"It's been decided," Kagome breathes, her heart hammering in her chest.

"She's right. The deal is struck. Come."
