By the end of the first week of law school, Sesshomaru was exhausted. Added to it was the fact that his grandfather was unable to send money due to a glitch in the bank’s system. It was frustrating for the student who had always been the best, the most organized, the most punctual. It was Friday night and he was alone. Rin had been invited by Souta to join a few friends for a friend’s birthday. Inuyasha had quickly found himself his own group of friends from the kendo team and was outside with them.
Being alone felt nice, but the silence in the rooms was suffocating. Needing to not be inside any longer, he stepped outside into the milder air and took a deep breath. Walking across the courtyard, he found himself leaning against the old tree that overlooked the shrine.
Sesshomaru had no idea how long he stood there just breathing and meditating, but he knew he was surprised when he heard a voice he recognized say his name. Opening his eyes, he met the blue eyes of the January girl.
“I didn’t know you were still here.”
“Hn.” He nodded his head in acknowledgment.
“I’m home alone too.” Kagome rambled catching his attention. “I know it’ll sound weird, but maybe you’d like to come in? They’re showing a new movie and…it’d be nice to watch it with someone else.”
Sesshomaru looked down at the girl. She was fumbling with her hands and refusing to meet his eyes. But he understood what her offer meant. She wanted some companionship. He supposed he could indulge her with that as he himself had nothing better to do at the moment. And being with someone did feel better than being alone.
“I may not stay long.” He warned pushing himself off from the tree and following her into the house.
“Okay.”
