Sess2023 (Chapter 31) - Mon 13 Feb 2023

(Pardon my spelling errors in my review - it's 4am and I just finished your story lol!)

Sess2023 (Chapter 31) - Mon 13 Feb 2023

Wonderful story! I didn't want it to end! A perffect combination of tension (love & lust), action, advanture, and comedy. You have a talent for story-telling. The ending was both satisfying and left me wanting to read more. 10/10!

Ink142 (Chapter 31) - Sat 23 Jul 2022

Thank you so, so much for this story, you have beautiful writing which got even better over time. Thank you even more for continuing to write Sess/Kag stories. I remember this fan community being so active back in the early / mid 2000s... then everyone grew up, got busy, and the number of new stories, updates to stories and reviews trickled down. On a recent spate of nostalgia I went looking for a few Sess Kag stories and I think over decades this remains my most favourite pairing ever, so thank you for keeping this dream alive and giving me some glimmer of a more youthful and carefree time!

Tami (Chapter 31) - Tue 05 Jul 2022

Lloré y sufrí con tu historia, la necedad de Sessh me tenía con los pelos de punta!! Ame el final fue perfecto gracias

Koiyuki (Chapter 8) - Sat 01 Jan 2022

Inuyasha's soul wouldn't be with Kikyo because Kikyo's soul returned to Kagome. So, either he's entirely alone in Hell or he reincarnated too & is somewhere in the Modern Era. The fact that Kagome doesn't end up with either Inuyasha or his perspective reincarnation means that he & Kikyo weren't as meant for eachother as he probably hoped.

Koiyuki (Chapter 1) - Sat 01 Jan 2022

I'm sorry, I've always hated the trope where Inuyasha spends his visits having sex with Kikyo. It's just, she's made of fucking CLAY & GRAVEYARD SOIL!! There's no way she doesn't stink & not only that, I refuse to believe that it'd feel like anything OTHER than sandpaper! It just makes no sense!

akane342 (Chapter 31) - Sat 03 Apr 2021

So brilliant written, i felt like I was reading the original series!!!

Young Kagome (Chapter 31) - Mon 08 Jun 2020

This was such a nice story!! It actually has a happy ending lol. I'm so used to your dark works, I was waiting for something morbid to happen. I truly loved this story but I think I like your darker stories better for some reason. Maybe because they're so different. This was reallllllly good! I like that Sesshomaru suffered a bit for what he did to Kagome instead of her just immediately forgiving him and he go about his merry way getting everything he wants with no consequence. You're definitely my favorite author.

Dunkelgelb (Chapter 1) - Wed 08 Apr 2020

Summaries for Chapters 5-8!

Chapter 5: Edo village is preparing for InuYasha’s wedding to Kikyo, and Kagome has to put up with the hassle of being frequently mistaken for Kikyo, due to their similar appearance and reiki powers.  The similarity is even more striking when she wears the traditional red/white miko outfit, so she switches over to her 20th/21st century high-school uniform for better contrast with Kikyo.

Akito, the father of Kimiko, whom Kagome had saved from the crow demons in Chapter 3, visits Edo and presents Kikyo with a gift, not mistaking Kagome for Kikyo, but instead mistaking Kikyo for Kagome, thinking that it was Kikyo who had saved his daughter.  Kikyo reluctantly accepts the gift.

2 days later, Kagome is alone outside Edo, trying to train herself to better control her reiki, but making little progress.  She recalls a discussion with Kaede on the subject of a miko’s seals, such as the one that pinned InuYasha to the Goshinboku tree for 50 years, or the one on Sesshomaru’s arm.  Kaede says that to both place and remove the seal is done with a specific action, whereas Kagome had been trying to remove the seal on Sesshomaru’s arm by a piddling ‘hammer and chisel’ method, or an overzealous ‘crowbar’ method.  This leads Kagome to believe there is a ‘Goldilocks’ solution to removing the seal.

Kikyo then visits Kagome and they have a civil, if tense conversation on the subject of seals.  Kikyo expands on Kaede’s suggestion but saying that removing the seal is accomplished with a specific thought, setting Kagome on the path of figuring out exactly what her thoughts were when she sealed Sesshomaru’s arm.

Sesshomaru visits Kagome and finds her exhausted of her reiki again, due to her overexerting herself during training with Kaede.  He informs her that he will not be visiting her for a few days due to a border dispute in his territory, then is visibly disappointed that Kagome is not very interested.

The chapter ends with Kagome having dinner with Sango, then Sango suggesting that they travel to her now-vacant taijiya village so that she can do maintenance on the graves of her family and her equipment, while at the same Kagome getting a chance to get out of Edo for a while, conveniently during InuYasha’s wedding with Kikyo.

Chapter 6: Kagome has been at Sango’s village for 2 days, and she finds herself becoming strangely anxious over not seeing Sesshomaru during that time.  Sango notices Kagome’s distracted state and Kagome explains it as the result of InuYasha telling her to return to her own time (in Chapter 4).  Sango is visibly upset with InuYasha’s behavior and confides in Kagome that she fears Kagome leaving the Sengoku Jidai, for the loss of her friendship.  This gives Kagome another much-needed psychological boost and it translates into her resolve to staying in the Sengoku Jidai for the foreseeable future.

Separately, Sesshomaru fights all day and night in a mountain pass/canyon with Sutinguu (‘Stinger,’ pronounced in English with a heavy Japanese accent?), a scorpion daiyoukai whose offspring were invading Sesshomaru’s territory.  Sesshomaru tries to use the battle as a way to release the tension of his budding obsession with Kagome, but to no avail – killing Sutinguu brings him no solace.  Sending Jaken off to wait with Rin and Ah-Un, he returns to Edo.

In Edo, Sesshomaru finds the village caught up in the celebration surrounding InuYasha’s wedding to Kikyo.  He quickly realizes that Kagome is not present and briefly encounters a drunken, possibly flirtatious Kaede (LOL), who directs him to Sango’s village to find Kagome.  Sesshomaru does find Kagome in Sango’s village and rouses her from sleep to request that she try to remove the seal on his arm again.  However, she is too tired to do so, directing Sesshomaru to return the following day.  Sesshomaru agrees, intending to not stop her on her next attempt and deciding that if his obsession with her does not cease upon the dissolution of her seal, that he will KILL her.

The next night, in a cave near Sango’s village, Kagome visits the petrified remains of Midoriko, the miko who had created the Shikon no Tama hundreds of years earlier, and gains some final insight as to dissolve her seal on Sesshomaru’s arm.  Sesshomaru is waiting at the cave’s entrance as she exits, and they hold one final seal-breaking session together.  Kagome had realized that her seal was formed on her fear of Sesshomaru, and as she purges her heart of that fear, she succeeds in removing the seal.

Freed from Kagome’s seal, Sesshomaru’s missing arm regenerates, then he immediately turns on Kagome, first intending to kill her, then changing his mind to VIOLATE her.  In self-defense, she unleashes a purifying attack on him, catching him in a vulnerable state since he had lost he armor during his battle with Sutinguu, and possibly kills him, or at the very least rendering him unconscious.

Chapter 7 (Interlude):  A pretty heavy chapter, warranting the content warnings at the beginning.  Eight months have passed since Chapter 6, and Kagome is back in the modern era, out and about with Yuka, one of her school friends.  Her thoughts are preoccupied with the events at the end of Chapter 6 and immediately after: after seemingly-killing Sesshomaru with a reflexive reiki blast, in response to his sudden sexual advances, she finds that Tenseiga has saved his life.  Her instincts immediately turn to self-preservation and she returns to Sango’s village at her best speed so that she and Sango can fly back to Edo on Kirara’s back, and hopefully be relatively safe from Sesshomaru’s retaliation.

Once back in Edo, Kagome suddenly decides to take InuYasha up on his salty recommendation from Chapter 4: to return to her own time permanently.  She chooses this both for her own safety, and the safety of her friends, since she is convinced Sesshomaru wants to kill her now, and would kill her friends if they tried to protect her from him.

Back in the modern era, Kagome’s school grades have improved dramatically due to her newfound focus on her studies.  Despite this, she lingers on her last encounter with Sesshomaru, and after returning home, that night she relives his advances through self-gratification in her bedroom.

Then, Kagome’s sleep is broken when she feels InuYasha emerge through the Bone Eater well.  She rushes to the well and finds InuYasha seriously wounded, carrying Kikyo’s bow, which is broken to signify her death, likely at Naraku’s hands due to the miasmatic nature of InuYasha’s wounds.

Chapter 8: An even heavier chapter.  Kagome has returned to the Sengoku Jidai with a wounded InuYasha, and purged him of Naraku’s miasma.  Yet, even free of the miasma, InuYasha still declines physically, and Kagome belatedly realizes that some other poison is killing him.  This other poison and its source are not described here, perhaps later on?

On his deathbed, InuYasha laments losing Kikyo again. He earnestly apologizes to Kagome for the way he had treated her, then dies quietly.  Later, Kagome and the remaining members of the former Inu-tachi scatter his ashes beneath Goshinboku, and underneath the mourning is tension.  Sango acts coldly toward Kagome, and Miroku is nearly as cold, if more conversational.  He explains that Sango also despises him, for his act of choosing to save her life during their failed battle with Naraku, instead of Kohaku’s.  Convinced of final, imminent defeat, he suggests that Kagome once again return to her own time.

Instead, Kagome takes the now master-less Tetsuseiga to Sesshomaru, to use it as a bargaining chip to persuade him into helping her and her friends against Naraku.  She reveals that InuYasha has died and offers him Tetsuseiga, but he declines it with disinterest, ominously suggesting that he would take something else from her.  Probably sex!

Dunkelgelb (Chapter 1) - Thu 02 Apr 2020

Hi, Wonderbug!  Thanks for reviewing 'The Shoot' ! I'm glad you like Chap. 6, and that you appreciate the little jokes I write into it throughout.

Here are my summaries of Chapters 1-4 of your 'Transgressions.'  I'm doing these summaries to show that I've read the story in its entirety, to help myself organize my thoughts on it, and to eventually provide a comprehensive review more satisfying to you than just a one-line comment, encouraging though it may be.

Chapter 1: A revived Kikyo has joined the ‘Inu-tachi’ group and is in a sexual relationship with InuYasha, the result of which Kagome overhears on a nightly basis.  This, combined with InuYasha’s new, disregarding treatment of her, has put Kagome in significant emotional distress.  Compensating for InuYasha’s neglect of her, she has the undivided attention of Sesshomaru, but perhaps not in a good way.  She works with him at a secluded location in the forests near Edo to undo the sealing spell she inadvertently left on the stump of his severed arm, which InuYasha used Tetsuseiga to cut off at the tomb of the Inu no Taisho in the Black Pearl dimension.

Kagome begins to make progress in undoing the spell and in the face of such progress, Sesshomaru has begun to interrupt their nightly seal-revocation sessions, without explanation.  Kagome begins to think that he is trying to prolong their sessions or create justification for additional ones, as if he desires her company.

Chapter 2: After dismissing Kagome from their seal-breaking session, Sesshomaru observes her (stalks her?) from a distance, finding that the seal she had left on his severed arm can perhaps allow her to see through his ability to conceal his youki.  Sesshomaru grapples with what he begins to recognize as physical attraction to her, comparing it to his father’s attraction to InuYasha’s mother, Izayoi.

Finding some free time two days later, Kagome tries to study for a math exam and soon after opening the math notes her modern era friend Ayumi had given her, she realizes she’s about to miss the very test she thought to study for, and rides the ‘Kirara Express’ back to the Bone Eater Well.  She returns to her own time to take the test and predictably, given her lack of focus on school subjects, it goes poorly for her.

In the modern era, Grandpa Higurashi is up to his usual shenanigans, making up extravagant excuses for Kagome’s absences.

Kagome attends a birthday party for Eri, one of her modern era friends, at the house of Sayuki, one of her other friends.  During the party, Hojo forthrightly expresses his attraction to Kagome, flattering her deeply and giving her a much-needed psychological boost, in sharp contrast to InuYasha’s and Sesshomaru’s attitudes toward her.

Returning to the Sengoku Jidai, Kagome starts to make her way back to the Edo village by travelling through InuYasha’s forest.  There, she happens upon a brutish oni eating a human corpse, then is nearly eaten herself, when Sesshomaru intervenes and kills the oni.  However, she may not be out of danger – Sesshomaru is angry with her.

Chapter 3: Immediately continuing from the end of chapter 2, Sesshomaru demands from Kagome the identity of the other male he smells on her.  Sesshomaru is smelling Hojo’s scent, but Kagome does not name her modern era classmate explicitly.  She identifies Hojo only as a boy from her home.  When Sesshomaru asks her where her home is, she wisely withholds the information that it is in another time period, explaining instead that it is ‘very far away.’

Sesshomaru then begins to be a general asshat: he demands that Kagome take him to her home (the modern era), to which she declines for reasons of principle and practicality.  She is not sure he can travel through the Bone Eater well, as InuYasha can, and she is not sure of the wisdom of allowing a 16th-century demonic warlord to enter the modern world.

Sesshomaru is angry with Kagome again and briefly contemplates killing her, but in her defiance of his demand, he begins to feel his attraction to her return.  He dismisses her coolly, then starts following the trail of her scent in reverse to find the Bone Eater well.  He suspects that it is a portal to her home, but it does not open for him.

The following morning, Kagome and Kaede go on a training exercise, during which Kagome is to use her reiki-enchanted arrows to clear out an infestation of crow demons from InuYasha’s Forest, where they potentially prey on villagers from Edo.  A close-call during the exercise results in Kagome destroying an entire flock of the demons in one shot, giving her some reassurance that she can eventually learn to control her powers and potentially become as powerful as Kikyo.

Original characters introduced during the crow scene: a young man named Akito, his wife (not named), and their daughter, Kimiko.

Later, Kagome encounters InuYasha, Kikyo, Miroku, Sango, Shippo, and Kirara as she gathers herbs for Kaede, then Kikyo drops a bombshell on Kagome’s head: she (Kikyo) and InuYasha are to be married.  OH SNAP

Chapter 4: After receiving InuYasha’s and Kikyo’s announcement about their marriage engagement, Kagome feigns disinterest and resumes gathering herbs for Kaede.  In the forest, she uses her herb-gathering expedition to vent her frustration at InuYasha’s/Kikyo’s treatment of her, then Sesshomaru arrives for another seal-breaking session.

Kagome explains to Sesshomaru that she’s unable to help with the seal on Sesshomaru’s arm due to exhausting her reiki while fighting the demon crows in Chapter 3.  Sesshomaru is visibly disappointed, then vanishes just before InuYasha arrives.  After mocking her for her indignance regarding his engagement to Kikyo, InuYasha then crassly suggests that since he has Kikyo, he doesn’t need her, and she should return to her own time, permanently.

Later, Kaede visits Kagome to comfort her some, and Kagome reveals to Kaede that Sesshomaru is blackmailing her into removing the seal she left on his arm.  Kagome then asks Kaede for help with the subject of magic seals.

At the end of the chapter, Sesshomaru visits Kagome for another seal-breaking session.  She tries a different approach and makes progress, but again, he interrupts her before she actually breaks the seal, much to her exasperation.

I like the story so far!  On the technical side, everything is spelled right, as far as I can tell, you use italics strategically to emphasize certain parts of text or dialogue, or identify a character's internal thinking.  Paragraphs are structured evenly, with single-line paragraphs used for dramatic effect - this makes it easy to read.

Storytelling-wise, I like how you're starting out slow and taking your time, in order to immerse the reader in the world and the various characters' personalities.  Major themes I can identify now are of Sesshomaru's obsession with Kagome, Kagome's struggle to find her place in a world that may not need her, Kagome's struggle to gain control over her powers, and Kagome's struggle to balance her life in the present with her life in the past.  Overall, it's strongly-inspired by the source material, while catering to the Sess/Kag fandom.

Great job so far!  I'll post more here soon.

Piecesofmimi (Chapter 31) - Sat 29 Feb 2020

This story was one of the cutest Sesskag FF I've read so happy I was late to the party because I was able to binge the whole story instead of having to go stir crazy waiting for updates! i Loved the way the story unfolded And the way the characters were written. I loved SessKag but my favorite character throughout your FF was by far jaken! He had my left hysterical! Such a well written story that had me going through the motions and unable to stop readi until I finished.

Carlyn (Chapter 31) - Sat 21 Dec 2019

I take back my precious statement about as last Lemon. As I was just reminded of that HOTTT extra chapter you've included. I bow down once more ro the queen of fanfiction. Literary genius char. It's crazy how good your are. .

Carlyn (Chapter 31) - Sat 21 Dec 2019

LOVED this ending!!! So different from sesshomarus encounters with his mother in your latest writings. Interesting progression. Love it! Dark and light, you're a fantastic writer. I wouldn't have minded one last makeup Lemon when they met at the well? A weeee bit unfulfilling, but I can see the artistic measure in it. Still though... after their last encounter in page, a FULLY happy reunion would noir be unwelcome. Nonetheless I still love this story as much as thre first time I read it. You REALLY need to be doing this professionally Char. It's crazy. If I had your talent... o.m.g. You're stupid good at this. It's ridiculous. And you've only gotten better over these last years. Change the titles, change the names, make your f'ing books woman. (Um just please leave a limited private link for your most Santander sesskag fans). Lololol

Carlyn (Chapter 30) - Sat 21 Dec 2019

First off: this was my favorite naraku death of all time. I can't explain it. Everything always revolves around him being so evil (which, yes, he is,) but he was human and in unrequited love first.

Second: I love that your fight scenes don't REVOLVE SOLELY around the fight. Really, reading most fight scenes is damn near impossible and downright BORING for me. You leave room for the story without bogging down with details of 'he moved right, then left, then swung...' like I care about that. You're amazing at giving just enough.

Thirdly: Just when you think kagome and sesshomaru have moved forward, you retract, reminding the reader of what he did and that kagome feels the wrath of his love ro the extent she needs time away, thinking she can't have him. Personally, I would've preferred her to be a little more hesitant of him given what he did, but overall I loved her reaction to the situation. So realistic, matter of fact.

Finally, their reunion. No words. Other than perfection.

Carlyn (Chapter 11) - Thu 19 Dec 2019

I remember the first time I read this... I was like "WHAT??? No NO! Nooooo!!!!!." Today was no different. Hahahaaaaa! Omg girl, you really love love to dangle the hook. Lol! It's probably why I'm obsessed with your work. Ha!

Carlyn (Chapter 10) - Thu 19 Dec 2019

Midnight Cat (Chapter 31) - Mon 10 Jun 2019

Amazing story!!! Good Sess/Kag writers are few and rare now a days, but you my dear manage to make this seem as if you are a pro just dabbling on Fanfic. You are amazing!! The way you craft stories is incredible, and the clean and perfect delivery is just awe inspiring!! Perfect grammar is something few writers consider when delivering a story, they feel the story is the important part, but ommit to acknowledge that when grammar is lackluster, it severly diminishes and sometimes even puts off a reader, they take so much away! But your excellent grammar, your impeccable imagination and delivery, made this an absolute joy! I have marked this as a favorite, and look forward to revisit it over and over again!! Thank you for sharing and congratulations on your incredible gift! Not everyone who sets out to tell a story can do it the way you do!
