I don't really understand what Kagome is trying to do here.  His mother obviously doesn't care whether he likes the female she wants him to mate or not.  How is that the vision of a caring mother or family?  Kagome just seems odd there implying that he should listen to his mother and that he's wrong to be upset.  Not sure how that was meant to come across.
