As much as I like letting the writers write their own work, I couldn't help but take you up on your offer in regards to why Kagome was called to Sesshoumaru's 'game'.  I don't know what you have planned already, but this idea really intrigues me. As I'm totally against the idea of Kagome being anything other than a special human miko (though, to be honest, I would most likely still read if you went that course), I've really had to wrack my brain for something not only unique, but convincing.  And I have thought a lot about it (if you care to read a decent amount of word vomit, just let me know :p ) but essentially I've come up with this:  Kagome could have been receptive to the call because of a combination of her connection to the Shikon (the waring demon and miko energies) and her constant companionship to demons.  OR it could be that youki and ki are just two sides of a whole energy (yin and yang), and that because she is so powerful, she can also be called by it. oH! That could also mean she could manipulate it as well...intriging idea....    But its nothing conclusive and just speculation.  As for why she was called, in essense she is the perfect choice or any male in that she is powerful, compassionate, intelligent, and a spitfire.   But other than the obvious I got nothing.  BAnd as for her not noticing the barrier...in her urgency to answer the call her mind just imitted that fact. :p

Omg this is getting goood. I can't believe Sai is Naraku's ward. And she loves Kagome. I love the turn of events. I wonder what Sesshomaru has to say about this!!  Gosh this is good. Keep up the good work! Can't wait for the next chapter!!

It's super interesting and the female antagoist/love interest is such a daring twist!  I saw it coming in previous episodes (as well as the alternate agendas) but still! I want to first give my condolences, I recently lost someone close to me as well. Life is too short you know that's why you got to live your life and be happy we'll your living.

Secondly I want to start out by saying this is a very interesting story. I love where your going with this. I do wonder about Sai's motives. I wonder if she is helping Kagome so that they both can wipe out all of them and when Kagome is tired or really weaken she turns on Kagome.  I pray that this isn't a threesome type fic because with a demon like Sesshomaru I don't know why anyone would want to shared him. Lol I can't wait for the next chap!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I hope your doing ok. I loved the chapter. I have to wonder what is  sai's real motives in helping Kagome. Is Sai really just nice or does she plan on trying to kill Kagome after everyone else is gone and Kagome is at her weakest and to injured to fight? Oh I can't wait to really more. Love the story. I really like this concept and its used so rarely in fic. I also like the idea of Kagome battling Sesshomaru to try and 'get out' of being his mate... after all, the female has to test the mettle of a male as well, correct? Most don't expand on the idea of Kagome using her smarts to try and win a battle, and I hope you use such a tool in your arsenal. I've yet to read a story where Kagome is the victor in a mating battle and also wins against Sesshomaru because of her smarts; only to lose the next year around. Just a thought (and it might take a while more) but wouldn't it be an interesting concept? Sesshomaru getting beaten by a human miko (the most powerful one alive, granted) only to come back the next year and beat her at her own game? Just a bit of brainstorming, in case you're interested. I'd think if Sesshomaru lost against Kagome he'd be dead-set on wanting her because she'd have done something no other had ever done before: Beating him. Plus, the challenge for him would be impossible to resist.

Now, on to the story grammar: I noticed it needs a bit of polish in some parts. For example, you mispelt 'trunk' with 'truck' when Kagome leaned against the trunk of a tree... little mistakes like that are scattered throughout and you might want to get a beta or read through it a few more times before posting if you're nitpicky. You might also want horizonal lines/breaks in between what's happening with Kagome and her tachi, just to make it flow a bit better and show a clear seperation/pause.

Other than that, I'm really enjoying this story and am curious to see what's in store for Kagome and Sesshomaru in this mating battle.
