I am enjoying your characters' inner thoughts -- brutally honest and not too charitable. I like how your Kagome does not inexplicably and automatically think of Rin as her all daisies and sunshine foster daughter (after all, methinks her a rather eccentric character in the first place). I suggest, however, a little more attention be paid to matters of form (grammar and spelling). This is something a beta can fix (if you don't have one yet).

Some of the vivid imagery from this chapter: Sesshomaru playing the flute, Sango tracking Sesshomaru and his group, Jakken leaving chicken-like tracks, Sesshomaru's pelt trailing over the dew-covered ground, the sunrise. Just a beautifully written, evocative chapter.

I'm kind of enjoying this take on Kagome, she's barely tolerating Rin at this point. It makes a nice change from the way she is usually portrayed, sitting for hours braiding daisy chains with the little brat. Err, I mean the darling child... Just kidding, but it's still a refreshing point of view. And I really enjoy your frequent updates. Look forward to more soon!

It is honestly saying something when someone would rather travel with an ice berg compared to more normal being. Really, but of course, Inuyasha would be the one to manage to do that. :) I liked this chapter, keep up the good work.

"Such men as he be never at heart's ease." Wow, that quote is apt, when applied to either Inuyasha or Sesshomaru. They are both troubled souls, in very different ways. Sesshomaru is being a real jerk, but that's good writing. He's a jerk in the anime and manga, at least in the early episodes. Often, he is written as being very kind and sweet, which can be fun, but isn't very true to the original...

The conversation between Rin and Kagome was very well written. I'm so glad Kirara is all right!

My thoughts upon reading the first chapter of your story: You managed to capture the spirit of the anime VERY effectively. It's hard to capture the humor between the characters without going too far. You succeeded admirably. You are really good at the technical side of writing. The first chapter is really complicated in terms of quotes, punctuation, and use of italics, and to my eye, your writing seems amazingly correct. I'm in suspense, so on to the next chapter...
