This is quite an emotional and powerful piece.  It is beautiful in its sad undertones and you not only wrote it well but you put it together very well also.  Though I am not inclined to read in this genre, I'm glad I stopped to read!

I agree with LC... most people ignore the passage of time and how things may have worked out for her.  I occasionally like to see her getting older and touching on the what she has seen and experienced in her long life, what it taught her.  It is a refreshing change.

On a second note, because I had to come and read this again and did not mention this the first time around, I loved the way you incorporated the bells into her death. And if I'm wrong here, please correct me.

God, Incomp! You are in a depressing mood recently!!! *gives Incomp happy pills* I hope that helps. But, until then, this was a lovely piece. Not many write about Kagome getting older and dying. Everyone wants to keep her young (myself included) as it is easier to write her that way.
