I love this sweet, sad tale. Bittersweet. 

Okay, now you did it. You went and made me cry. Why did you do a thing like that? Could you not just have them mated so she could share his life span or was that just a fallicy?  That was a bitterweet very well written one shot. He he die at the end by her grave site?  Now I am going to go cry some more now...beautiful  story.
