Hello there~

I'm Chie. It's just a nickname, though. (Since I don't like using my real name in the wide wonderland we call internet. ^^;)

About me? Well~ I'm 22 years old and my birthday's September 1st. I'm also a Finn, and I've lived in Finland all my life. Thus, English isn't my first language, but I'm arrogant enough to think that I speak it rather well. I'm interested in linguistics, and I really wish I could know Japanese better.

I'm a full-time student, majoring in English translation studies. The spare time I have, I like to spend  with my laptop at home. (Because I'm boring like that.) I also like to read fantasy novels on my spare time. I'm currently single and I pretend to be okay with it.

I'm a romantic realist and a true slacker. First and foremost, I'm a wannabe writer. I've been writing fanfiction since January 2006. Before that, I was dabbling in original high fantasy.

I'm a fangirl. I cosplay and make AMV's. I like to read shoujo manga (and manhwa) a lot, and occasionally I watch a dorama or two.

I  like to lurk in the shadows here in Dokuga and am pretty much the silent spectator to all the inside craziness unfolding. I suppose that's largely because I don't know anyone here that well, and I'm not an outgoing a person. :x Maybe one day I will dare to set my foot in the chatroom. Maybe.

On-going fics:

Tables Turned (TT) - AU.  Sesshoumaru had it all and lost it, Kagome had nothing but clawed her way to the top. Romance, humour, drama, suspense~ I got tired of all the fics where Kagome worked for Sesshoumaru and I wanted to twist it around and make it all fun. :P

Chain of Love (Chain) - Canon. Sesshoumaru's mother wants her son to settle down. Enter the matchmaker! Seeing how difficult Sesshoumaru is, the matchmaker decides to pull out the big guns - chaining Sesshoumaru to Kagome! Humour, romance, drama

Evil plotting in progress:

Dear Stranger (DS) - AU. Online romance is beginning to bud between two strangers exchanging e-mails. But Kagome knows that falling in love is not an option - that would be bad for business.

Chie the writer

1. I take my time. I develope the romance slowly rather than fast. If (when) I get the Block, I'll wait it out instead of pushing myself to write.

2. I don't do sequels. When I do write "The End", I mean it.

3. I'm impulsive. I don't plan ahead too much, save for a rough outline. I come up with a lot as I go.

4. I'm a realist. Even though I love to write humorous scenes, in the end I tend to lean towards realism. I want the characters to sound real. I want the plot to be plausible. Even if I started out funny, it's inevitable I start to grow more serious at some point. (I couldn't write (multi-chapter) crack to save my life.)

5. I don't do dark. That's not my thing. There may be darker elements in, but the general tone of the story will not be dark. I like trying to be funny and developing teh romance too much for that.

6. I don't really do lemons. For some reason writing them makes me uncomfortable and especially the terminology-issues bother me to no end. However, I rather enjoy throwing in some lime every now and then. I guess it's because I'm a bit of a tease.

7. I have motivational issues. Whenever I need to stall, I develop a block for myself. All too often I simply am not in the mood for writing. This is what makes me fickle, this is why my updates are infrequent and irregular.

My story Tables Turned was nominated for the best AU fic in 2nd, 3rd and 4th Quarter in 2009.

My story Chain of Love was nominated for best romance in 3rd and 4th Quarter, and for best Sesshoumaru portrayal in 4th Quarter in 2009. In 1st Quarter 2010 it was nominated for best canon. In 2nd Quarter 2010 it was nominated for best drama.

I really apologize for confronting you about this. I don't usually go back and forth about Japanese usage and I'm sorry I hope I did not come off as arrogant or anything. No hard feelings please.

Also when I saw your name I was like wait a moment, why does this name sound so familiar..? So I checked the stories on your profile And I was like whoa . I am a total fan of your stories! I can't believe you commented on my art. Thank you so much. You are one of my favorite authors.

Sorry for misunderstanding you originally when you said the nai form changes the vowel. However remember that the imperative form of mat- or mach- is mate (informal) and the formal form is matte. Here's the website if you wish to reference it

I'm not saying you are wrong I'm just saying I said it correctly. I've only learned Japanese for 3 years but I actually went to Japan as an exchange student this is a common colloquial saying.

I understand what you are saying but this is the correct usage for what I'm trying to say. For example look up the kanji spelling for matenai you will know what I mean. If you put it in romaji it spells matenai.
Feedback from Chie: Usually with verbs, the kanji only covers for the first syllable of the verb - at least in group I verbs, and the inflection of the verb is on hiragana, since hiragana mostly are used for grammatical purposes, like prepositions and such. For 'matsu', the kanji only covers the first syllable "ma", the rest are in hiragana. Seems like the Japanese characters won't show up here, too bad... :/ If you still don't want to believe me, I recommend you to check it up. http://www.japaneseverbconjugator.com/VerbDetails.asp?JapaneseVerb=matsu&VerbClass=1&EnglishVerb=wait for example is a site I found just by googling "Japanese verbs"

Thank you so much for your comment on Matenai. I'm am so happy you like the hair. I used colorpencil for that. Regarding language usage, the nai form in Japanese serves as a negation. For example, taberu means "to eat". To say "to not eat" in a formal manner you would use the "masen" form making it tabemasen. The nai form is definitely not formal and is more casual (could be considered rude too it depends ) I won't get too deep into the complexities of the levels of formalities. Anyway you could use the example from taberu to say tabenai "not eat". Hope this helps. Again thank you for your comment. With that said you can apply the "nai" rule to matte to form matenai.

Also on another note matenai means "can't wait". It comes from chotto matte which as you recall can mean "wait a moment" depending upon the situation... Anyway it is casual to say chotto matte and even more informal to say matte. But I drew an informal situation .
Feedback from Chie: I still think matenai is the wrong form. It's matsu (matta) -> machimasu/machimasen (machimashita/machimasendeshita), Te-form as you correctly pointed out is "matte", but when making the -nai form it becomes matanai, since adding the negation -nai the vowels tend to change. For example (and this I know for sure is right) iku->ikimasu->itte->ikAnai

But as I said, my japanese is still a bit rusty, we did go over the -nai forms in the previous course, but since the spring term started I've only had one lesson so it hasn't yet fully come back to me. I've only completed three courses on Japanese, but I knew about everything you kindly explained to me here already. But I appreciate the effort you took, and I still find your fanart amazing. :3

Unfortunately, I'm way too broke to buy manga so OneManga.com is my fix. I check it religiously for Skip Beat updates. It's kinda sad, maybe obsessive? :igh:: They don't update fast enough.
