Discliamer: I don't own Inuyasha. I just play with the characters. I don't own the quote used in the summary.
Author's note: This is in response to Stella's soundtrack challenge. The theme is "Move Forward".
Song 1: Aria by Kalafina
“To live alone, is the fate of all great souls.” –Arthur Schopenhauer
The Future That You Lost Has Begun Again
“Sesshomaru-sama, I have loved you. And every day this feeling has blossomed more beautiful than the last. But my spring is ending.”
A phantom hand touched his own, and he cringed physically.
“I am but a flower in the field, compared to your eternity. A passing wind.” Her breath left in a sigh, filled with things unsaid- with a turmoil of emotions that now he recalled.
But it was too late.
The cold winter breeze slapped his face, and the forsaken Demon lord stumbled on.
There was nothing he could do. She was already gone.
A damaged hand brushed cement walls as he moved. The sound of the future mixing with those of his mind, tainting them.
But he wouldn’t let them reach her. She was his.
‘She’s mine. You can’t have her. She’s mine. She’s mine. She’s mine!’
“Don’t worry Sesshomaru-sama. I am leaving now, but I’ll be back.”
‘No.’
His head shook fiercely, a desperate attempt, but he couldn’t figure out what for- to stop the ghostly melody of her, to stay within the only happiness he’d ever felt, or maybe to forget. A pain smoked to life inside him, thick and heavy. And he faded back to the streets, back to the present, back to his eternity of agony.
A car horn blared, warning of imminent impact, but he remained unmoving.
'Let it have me. I'm too tired.'
Dull eyes gazed forward, to a future without her. A future with no one, but himself. There was no point in existing, when nothing remained.
'Years of searching. Decades of loneliness. Centuries of pain.'
The sky above rumbled its agreement. Then released a blood chilling drizzle.
‘May the Gods have mercy, and end this.’
He threw his arms wide, closed his eyes, and breathed the rain, while praying for lightning.
But before the car could hit him, or lightning could strike, something plowed into his side. Pushing them both to the side walk, and out of harm’s way.
“What are you trying to do?! Kill yourself!?”
‘This voice.’
He remained silent, laying in the growing ice puddle. While tiny fingers dug into his shoulders and shook him softly.
“Because there are better way to do it then being socked by a car! I mean, honestly!”
One of the hands, released him, then hit his shoulder lightly. As if to chastise him.
When he remained unmoving, unspeaking, the woman on his chest rolled off.
‘She isn’t real. She can’t be real. This isn’t who I think it is.’
“Hey, are you okay?”
‘I know, it isn’t her. I know she’s an illusision fostered by my mind. But…’
He cracked a single eye, just as she pulled his nasty stained cap up, and met cerulean skies filled with diamonds of hope.
“Sesshomaru-sama?”
