California King Bed

AN: This is a story I wrote a while ago. If you have seen this on FF.net, don't worry, that is also my account. Also, I don't own Inuyasha nor do I own any characters. Anyway, enjoy the story.

Heavy pants and the sound of rustling sheets filled the dark room. A large silver-haired male lay atop an ebony haired beauty. Their hot breaths mixing with each exhale they made, their chest touching with each inhale of breath. He kissed her lightly on the lips and rubbed his nose against hers as she wove her fingers lovingly through his; bringing their hands as close together as the rest of their bodies.

"I love you, Kagome," he whispered into her ear as he kissed the underside of her jawbone. She sighed at the feeling of his rose petal soft lips.

"I love you too, Sesshomaru," she whispered back to him, lifting her head up to kiss him sweetly on the lips. As they kissed, he rolled their bodies so that he lay on his side with her snuggled securely along his side. Finally breaking from the kiss the two lovers fell asleep.

The next morning Kagome awoke to an empty and cold bed. Seeking warmth, she curled herself into a ball and pulled his pillow closer to her body, allowing the lingering scent of him to surround her as sad tears rolled silently down her face.

"He's gone, again, like always," she said to herself wiping her tears into his pillow as she cried herself back to sleep.

~One month later~

Finally, she had woken up before him, even if it was the middle of the night, it was still before him. As she lay against him she looked up and watched him as he slept. She sighed at the beautiful sight he made as the moonlight shone through the window and along his pale skin. His eyes slowly fluttered open at small sound and gold locked onto sapphire.

"So you enjoy watching people sleep?" he teased as he wrapped his arms tighter around her small body.

"No. Just you," she answered blushing as she nuzzled her head into his chest, "Stay here just a little while longer," she yawned out before falling back asleep.

"For you," he yawned, “anything,” and he followed her into the land of sleep.

Kagome awoke from the soft heat of the sun’s rays peeking through the window; however, the heat of the sun wasn’t enough to warm the cold, empty sheets on the other side of the bed. "He never said he'd stay until the morning," she whispered sadly to herself, raising from the California king bed, "Why does he have to have such a big bed anyway? It's not like he ever actually stays in it. At least he doesn’t when I’m here. Kami, I hate this bed,” she pondered out loud to herself as she made her way to the connected bathroom to shower. Exiting the bathroom with her previous night’s clothes in hand, she walked pass the bed, noticing a light spot on the sheets reminding her of last night and the many nights they’d shared before, but never any mornings. Like all the mornings before, she silently left his house locking and closing the door behind her.

A few hours later found Kagome silently crying in a small coffee shop at a table with her best friend, Sango.

"Don't cry, sweetie, I'm sure there's a reason behind this," Sango insisted as she patted Kagome’s hand doing her best to comfort her friend.

"Like what? He's tired of me and instead of just telling me that, he's just going to play me along for the sex?" Kagome whispered harshly to Sango as more tears began to slowly stream down her face.

"No. I doubt it’s anything like that," Sango said trying to reason with her, "But maybe you should try looking for someone else. When you think about it you two aren't even in a real relationship. I mean I've never even met him and I'm your best friend." Sango stated, smiling at the last part as she took a sip of her coffee.

"But I can't," she replied wiping tears from her face as more fell.

"Sure you can," Sango said, “Just look over there,” she slightly titled her head towards the table behind them, “He's hot." Kagome turned and looked in the direction her friend had nodded. A look of shock ran across her face as she took in the features of the male sitting at the small table behind them.

"See, I can already tell you like him," Sango said, assuming that the look on Kagome’s was created by the pure beauty of the man.

Kagome shook her head and quietly whispered, "That's him." Sango was stunned silent.

Even though both women were staring at the man, neither noticed when he lifted his head and stared back at them nor did they notice when he rose from his seat and began making his way to their table until he was standing beside their table.

“Hello, Kagome,” Sesshomaru greeted, catching both girls’ attention. The sound of her name said in his all too familiar voice shocked Kagome out of her small daydream and she brought her attention to the man beside her. "Hi, Sesshomaru, how have you been?" Kagome returned the greeting without looking up into his face.

Sango, feeling the tension between the two, quietly excused herself from the table to give her friend a moment alone with Sesshomaru. He silently nodded in Sango’s direction as she walked pass him. Without wasting a second, he placed himself into the seat that Sango had vacated. The duo sat in silence as Sesshomaru stared at Kagome and she simply stared into the caramel colored abyss of her coffee cup.

Eventually, the silence became too much for Kagome and she began to speak, "Sesshomaru I think we need to ta-,” however, her words were interrupted by his lips being pressed firmly against hers, stealing her breath away.

"I love you," he breathed out, pulling his mouth just barely away from hers, “Come,” he ordered as he rose from the table and reached out for her hand. She nodded numbly, allowed him to take her hand and followed him out of the shop to his car. “We will talk at my place,” he stated as he opened the passenger door for her. Again, her only response was to nod and follow his order.

After a long, tension filled, and silent ride, they pulled into his driveway. As always, got out the car first and made his way to the passenger side to open Kagome’s door and led her by a hand resting on the small of her back into his house and up to his room. The entire way up, she thought of what she to say to him, how to place her feelings into words, how to ask him if he truly loved her the way she loved him, or if all the times he said that was just a way to keep her around.

"You said we needed to talk. I'm listening," the soft sound of his baritone voice and the feel of his rough hands rubbing her knee released her from her thoughts. While lost in her reverie, she failed to notice that they’d not only made it to his room, but also they were not sitting on his bed. She nodded and began to release every pent up emotion she had for him and what was truly on her mind. By the end of her confession she was silently crying as he held tightly to his chest.

"Yes, Kagome, I truly love you," he said kissing her softly on the lips, “I apologize, if I have not made that obvious. I tend to have a difficult time expressing my feelings.”

She looked up into his golden eyes and seeing nothing but the passion he held for her shining in the gold of his irises, she tangled her fingers in his moon-kissed hair, pulled his face back to hers, and kissed him with every ounce of love she’d ever felt for him.

For the first time ever, they made love. Their nights together would no longer be just sex, from this moment forward, they were making love. The word sex was nowhere near passionate enough to express the love they shared for one another.

Together, they lay in the afterglow of their activities, cuddled into each other, as Sesshomaru traced the words “love” and “mine” over her bare hip and she lightly traced “always” over his bare chest.

"Kagome?" Sesshomaru asked, pausing the movement of his hand and tilting her chin up to allow them to make eye contact.

"Yes?" she replied as she began to trace random patterns on his chest.

"How much do you love me?" he question, gently grasping her hand and holding it tenderly.

"More than you'll ever know," she answered kissing him on the lips. He smiled and reached over to his nightstand and pulled a small box from the top drawer.

"Enough to marry me?" he asked opening the box and placing it in her hand. Tears of joy fell from her eyes as she took the ring out the box and slipped it on her ring finger. He wiped the tears from her eyes and waited for the answer. To excited to speak she simply nodded her head excitedly and kissed him as deeply and as passionately as she could.

~Six years later~

Kagome lay in bed, snuggled up against Sesshomaru. He reached over and placed his hand over hers on her slightly protruding stomach and smiled.

"What are you thinking about?" he whispered to her, as if being too loud would somehow ruin this moment.

"How happy I am and how I love your giant bed," she said smiling. He shook lovingly his head at her statement.

"No, I don't have a large bed," he said smiling at her. She tilted her head to the side like a confused puppy. He smirked at her expression. "We have a California king bed," he corrected her. She smiled sweetly at her husband's statement and drifted off to sleep with him following close behind.
