Kagome has always had an affinity for demons. Ever since she was a little girl she made friends with all sorts of demons in school and on the play ground. Many parents and teachers have found her to be quite the annomally considering the tension between the two species.
It was at the playground where Kagome made her first demon friend whose name is Inuyasha. Bullied and alone by the slide, Kagome walked over and came to his defense when a few of the young boys were poking him with a branch. He hissed and he growled but maintained his position underneath the slide with his knees tucked into his chest. Kagome always held a strong sense of justice when it came to bullying. It was a trait she got from her father who was a cop.
"Hey, leave him alone!" Kagome shouted as she shoved one of the boys away. She was a good foot smaller than the other boys but that didn't seem to phase her.
"Oh look, it's your girlfriend to the rescue!" One of the boys taunted. The others laughed and pointed at the angry little demon.
"Back off, or else I will get angry." She threatened.
Kagome put her tiny fists on her hips and scowled. Losing interest they walked off and dropped their sticks as they went.
"That's what I thought." She quickly turned and extended her hand to the little white haired demon.
"Hi, my name is Kagome. Are you okay?"
The white haired demon with golden eyes stared up at her with shock. He moved to stand up, blatantly ignoring her extended hand, and wiped off his clothes. When his eyes met hers again he glared.
"I am fine. I didn't need your help you know." He grumbled.
"It's not polite to not say thank you." She countered.
"Well you shouldn't stick your nose in a mans business, little girl."
Kagome pouted and crossed her arms and glared at the rude boy. Her anger, however, deflated at the sight of his ears twitching on top his head as the wind blew.
"Oh, cute!" Kagome quickly reached up and grabbed a hold of both ears in her finger tips.
His eyes widened in shock once more and he felt weak at the knees at the feel of her gentle touch.
"Your ears are really cute for a demon."
"Inuyasha."
Kagome stopped rubbing his ear and stepped away.
"What?"
He cleared his throat and crossed his arms, his glare never faltering.
"My name is Inuyasha. I am the strongest demon ever!"
Kagome chuckled. "I believe it, chibi Inu!"
Kagome laughed as she ran away with her new friend chasing after her.
After their fateful meeting Kagome learned that Inuyasha had run away from home and that's why he was at the park in the first place. Her mother had mentioned his parents and that was the moment he came clean. His older brother had made him upset and prompted his decision to leave home. Grateful for the return of their son, Inuyasha's parents invited them over for dinner.
Since then they have been inseperable. Kagome, Inuyasha and, eventually, Sesshomaru.
