Revisting Fae Tales by kaoruhana

A/N: Don't normally do this but here goes.  Got a story for the Disney Challenge and finsished DDN.

Prompt: abrasive- capable of polishing or cleaning a hard surface by rubbing or grinding, to rub or graze the skin; showing little concern for the feelings of others; harsh.

Kikyo narrowed her eyes at the list of Kagome Higurashi’s twitter followers.  She was the Queen Bee of their school but Higurashi was trying to surpass her.  In this University, that wasn’t going to happen.  She turned to look at her boyfriend- a certain Kagome Higurashi’s ex-best friend and smiled.

“Inuyasha?”  She asked calling the soccer player over.  “Let’s take a picture together.”  The male shrugged and let her take a selfie of the two of them which she posted online.

A few hours later, Kikyo noted that her twitter followers surpassed Higurashi’s.  She would always be abrasive Queen Bee.

A/N: Prompt: adynamia: loss of strength or vigor.

Normally Kagome was bubbly and got along with her classmates.  Recently though, she realized that something changed physically for her classmates to avoid her.  It made the girl suffer feel like she was suffering from adynamia.

“Kagome?”  She turned to see Kouga, a player on the soccer team and someone who she still thought could be a friend.

“What is it?”  She asked wishing that they could hold this discussion outside of class where there were no prying eyes.

“I was just wondering- do you want to go out with me?”

“Me?”  Kagome asked blushing.  At his nod, she agreed.

A/N: Prompt: asperity: harshness of tone or manner, harsh qualities or conditions.

Kikyo narrowed her eyes with asperity at Kouga to see if he had followed through with their plan.  If he did things right, Kagome Higurashi would not be a worry to her anymore.

“Did you do it?”  She asked waiting for proof that he had broken Kagome’s heart on their date.

“Yes.”  Kouga hadn’t really hurt Kagome- even he couldn’t find it in himself to do so.  Instead, he stood her up and texted her warning her to find new friends in class.  He only hoped that she did as told and that Kikyo wouldn’t catch on to his plan.

A/N: Prompt: accede: yield toanother wish or opinion

Kagome had been shocked when she got the text from Kouga.  Part of her was hurt from being stood up and another part wanted to ask him what was happening.  She knew that Kouga hung out with the people who had shunned her from their circle.  Was he telling her to move on and not get her feelings hurt more?  As she sat there, alone at the diner near campus, she wondered if it was right to accede to his words.  Maybe… maybe he was right.  Her old friends didn’t talk to her anymore she’d make new, more caring ones.

A/N: Prompt: anergy: inactivity or lack of energy

Kagome was suffering from anergy.  It was startling enough that one of her classmates whom she had never interacted with came up to her after class one day.

“Hey- are you okay?” The words surprised Kagome.  She’d had a rough weekend after dealing with Kouga so she was exhausted today from lack of sleep.  Turning to meet the girl she offered a smile.

“Just tired.”  She introduced herself.  “I’m Kagome.”  The girl smiled and looked over her shoulder at two other girls.

“I’m Rin, that’s Sango and Yuka.  Do you want to join us for coffee?”

 “I would like that.”

A/N: Prompt: abhor: to regard with disgust and hatred

Kikyo watched as Kagome came back to herself and began to make friends again.  She hung out with the Group of Seven: seven students whose status in society stemmed from their powerful ancestors.  These students were influential and had buildings on campus named after members of their family.  As a result of this new association, Higurashi was once again popular.

Kikyo had always been the most popular and she abhorred the idea of someone else taking that coveted spot.  There had to be something she could do.  She disappeared into the dining hall to solve this once and for all.

A/N: Prompt: avert: to turn away or aside

Sesshomaru averted yet another girl trying to accidentally bump into him on their way to class.  He knew that a lot of girls were attracted to him but for once he wanted to meet someone who attracted him and who saw past his exterior and background.

“Sesshomaru!”  His sister greeted him.  Next to her was a female he hadn’t met before.

“Rin.”  He acknowledged taking a seat next to her.  He looked to the other girl and noticed that she was talking to Rin’s friend instead of paying attention to him. Intrigued, he decided he’d ask Rin about her later.

A/N: Prompt: adepter: having or showing knowledge and skill and aptitude

Kikyo was adepter than most in making strategic plans.  Any and all things she did were done piece by piece.  After all, one mistake could ruin a plan.  She walked towards Sesshomaru, batting her eyelashes coyly.  If she won him over then she’d once again be the most popular girl and this time it would be uncontested.

“Kikyo.”  He acknowledged.  Truly he cared little for her.  She was just a peer.

“Sesshomaru.”  She stated.  “Student body elections are coming up.  What say we run together for President and VP?”

Sesshomaru wasn’t interested.  “No thanks.  I have to go to class.”

A/N: Prompt: abated: make less active or intense; become less in amount or intensity

Kagome liked her new friends.  They were fun to be around and genuinely cared for her. Today, the early spring weather had finally abated to make way for a lovely pollen free warm day and the group was at the pool.  Her friends had gone to get drinks leaving her alone.  She stood by the side of the pool, not too eager to go in for she couldn’t swim.   A sudden push startled her and she feel into the water.  Her panic overwhelming her, she didn’t fight the water and instead sunk to the bottom of the fifteen foot pool.

A/N: Prompt: abstruse: difficult to penetrate; incomprehensible to one of ordinary understanding or knowledge

Kikyo’s actions were abstruse to everyone who saw them.  Sesshomaru wasted no time in diving and rescuing Kagome from the pool.  She hadn’t drowned or needed CPR but she was still hysterical.  Needing to calm her down, he held her face in his hands and kissed her- a chaste little peck but enough of a touch to have her calm down.

“Sesshomaru?”  She asked curiously once she had realized what had happened.

“You’re fine Kagome.”  He thought about it and decided that maybe he’d like to get her more.  “Let’s get you dry and go for coffee.”

                She smiled.  “Okay.”

A/N: Absolutely one of the most cliché pieces I’ve ever written in my life.   I really wanted to write a Snow White fic for the Disney Challenge though (I am not affiliated with both Snow White and Inuyasha and Twitter).  Eh- I still really don’t like it so I’m probably going to make the Aladdin one I’m working on really good.
