Sesshomaru had taken her far away from Akahito’s sanctuary, leaving behind their anger as the miles raced below them. He’d only stopped a handful of times when she’d needed to eat or drink, and they were off again. So much was left unsaid between them, and yet, neither felt the pressing need to speak.
Kagome had no idea where she was when he’d finally stopped for the night, taking them to a small clearing surrounded by trees. Without being told, she knew they would be spending the night here.
“I’ll get kindling,” Kagome murmured, the first to break the silence.
