In demon town

Sesshomaru and his beast were in heavy conversation when Mutsumi came out with Kagome who wore a light blue and pink kimono.

“Milord!” Mutsumi getting Sesshomaru’s attention.

“Do you not have something to say to your guest?” Mutsumi asked.

“This Sesshomaru apologizes for disrespecting you.” Sesshomaru growled out an apology.

“Thank you. I’m guessing that you have never had to apologize to anyone before.” Kagome assumed.

“Hn. I need to bathe and then we will return to town.” Sesshomaru explained.

“Mutsumi will watch you.” Sesshomaru leaving her in the spider’s care.

“So, why don’t you show me around? Like the dining hall and the other places that I am allowed to go.” Kagome explained.

“Um, I don’t think that’s the best idea. I can take you to the library.” the spider suggested.

“That will be fine.” Kagome nodded, she followed the spider to a few doors down and chit chatted along the way. Kagome was polite and said hello to the nervous guards and other passing servants. They nodded they heads tensely, Kagome just hoped that her being seen with Mutsumi who was calm and relaxed would help them all become comfortable with her in due time. When Mutsumi opened one of the doors for Kagome she was stunned at what she found.

“This is huge.” Kagome taking in the room.

“You must like books. The scrolls are very delicate so I don’t think milord would want you to touch. Well go on.” Mutsumi smiling. Kagome found paintings of three other inuyokai, well, one was more odd than the rest.

“The fire rat cloth. Is this Inuyasha?” Kagome asked.

“Yes. How did you know about him?” Mutsumi asked.

“My grandfather’s scrolls. He has collected some high tale scrolls, I never really believed in them. The one about the great dog general’s family was more interesting than the rest. It describes him, all the family members so perfectly. But to actually see them in a painting, its like no words could describe them. Who is that?” Kagome suddenly confused at the child in the painting who stood so regally beside a male who stood in regal armor who stood beside a very regal dressed female. All were inuyoukai.

“The pup in the painting is this Sesshomaru.” a deep baritone voice rang out in the room. Kagome’s eyes widened a little,

“Wow.” Kagome still looking at the painting. When she turned to acknowledge him she took in his appearance. He wore his usual white, red, blue, and yellow traditional Feudal Era garbs, with his swords at his side and his black little boots.

“You still wear that thing or do you have a bunch of the same outfit in your closet?” Kagome stifled a laugh.

“Your grandfather’s scrolls have told you much of this Sesshomaru.” Sesshomaru stoically.

“And your swords, even some of your battles are written in the scroll. Your family were beautiful inuyokai.” Kagome commented, Sesshomaru just glanced up at the painting that was done centuries and centuries ago.

“Are you ready to go back to town?” Kagome asked.

“Yes.” Sesshomaru replied coldly, as he swiftly turned around and led her outside of the castle. He suddenly stopped, again Kagome had to sidestep to keep from running into him.

“Are we not taking the car?” Kagome asked.

“Cars are only used to leave this community and to drive into your community. We youkai usually have a better transportation system.” Sesshomaru explained as he grabbed her up and flew off in his power orbing light ball. Within minutes they were in the middle of town. He let Kagome stand on her feet and she just about hit the ground, Sesshomaru caught her and held her arms until she stabilized. She shot him a glare,

“You will get used to it.” Sesshomaru explained, he praised her ability not to have her mouth fly open in public, her mouth reminded him of his half brother’s though it was entertaining to see her all heated and annoyed.

“What about my pencil and paper to take notes?” Kagome asked, Sesshomaru pulled out an electronic writing tablet for her to use. “What do I do with this?” Kagome confused. Sesshomaru was tempted to roll his eyes but refrained. Quickly he showed her how to work one,

“Okay, now you talked about education earlier. Where do you teach this education and is it only history or is there more subjects involved?” Kagome starting out. Across the same park Sango was slapping at a perverted fox youkai.

“Hentai!” Sango shouted, the fox held his cheek with a dreamy look on his face.

“Now Miroku, we are in public. You need to control your hand for a little while.” Lord Tamotsu of the East smirked.

“Finally.” Sango rolling her eyes,

“Sango! Over here!” Kagome shouted, missing the winced look on Sesshomaru’s face. Sango ran over in her fancy kimono,

“Hey, Lord Sesshomaru.” Sango bowing.

“Hello taijiya Sango.” Sesshomaru noticing Lord Tamotsu and his son running towards them.

“How is it you got so lucky? Those two are grabby and I think they like it when they get slapped. I got permission from Lord Tamotsu’s mate to slap Miroku every time he did it but still, its so annoying.” Sango whispered. Sesshomaru made a small snort, as Kagome laughed,

“He likes you,” Kagome giggled.

“No, he has a cursed hand, just like his father. He does it to every female.” Sango grumbled. Sesshomaru thought this was proving to be very entertaining indeed.

“After you have finished we will join Lord Nobuyuki of the North where he will explain the rules of the community.” Sesshomaru glancing at Kagome. This time is was Kagome’s turn to snort, she knew exactly what the translation for her father’s new name meant, but then for once she seemed nervous and a little scared. Throughout the rest of the afternoon Kagome and Sango had grouped up together, went over the questions to ask and who to ask them to.

“We should also ask Lord Nobuyuki some questions as well, er, maybe his mate instead.” Kagome nervously.

“What’s wrong Kags?” Sango confused,

“I found out who he is or was.” Kagome trying to smile to prevent any tears from falling.

“Who?” Sango asked.

“My father.” Kagome replied shortly,

“You cant be serious. Lord Nobuyuki is your father?” Sango asked.

“Sango, we have work to do. I really, I just cant talk about it.” Kagome walking away.

“Sango, are you okay?” Miroku actually for once being a concerned gentleman.

“Who just skips out on their daughter?” Sango asked.

“Huh?” Miroku confused,

“Kagome’s father is the Northern lord.” Sango mumbled as she took her own electronic tablet and started walking toward another youkai.

“Miko, if you would like to return to the castle until dinner, it is perfectly acceptable.” Sesshomaru explained coolly.

“No, I am fine. I just need to get this over with tonight. Maybe let Sango do the interview with his mate, just to be respectful.” Kagome softly.

“I don’t understand.” Sesshomaru confused.

“What if you mated a human who had a daughter or a son and they came here like I did to ask you how you lived your life?” Kagome asked.

“Violated, angry, though I would not take a human mate, nor would I have a mate who has duties and responsibilities to another family.” Sesshomaru explained.

“When it comes to the matters of your heart you do not get a say or a choice in the matter.” Kagome explained. She continued her questioning for the afternoon and met back up with Sango.

“I hope you have had better luck than I have had. I’ve gotten nothing.” Sango explained.

“Maybe if we try a different approach. We have two weeks, we can get to know them this week, befriend them, help them feel more comfortable around us. We will still learn a lot through their daily activities. And the next week we can ask them about their culture and things.” Kagome explained.

“Maybe, but we are human, we aren’t going to get much from them because of their history with humans, miko and demon slayers and we are all the above.” Sango explained.

“Sango, look at this as a battle, you wouldn’t give up a fight if your sword is thrown miles away. We just have to plan and strategize better and you keep fighting your way to that sword so you can defeat your opponent.” Kagome explained. Sesshomaru stared at Lord Tamotsu and he was stunned at the miko’s intelligent, willpower, and determination to get what they came for. Sesshomaru himself now held a little more respect for the miko.

“Come Kagome. Time to leave.” Sesshomaru explained.

“And Sango, no exploding all over Lord Nobuyuki. I don’t want him to know I know the truth.” Kagome seriously.

“But…” Sango being interrupted,

“No. No buts whatsoever. This is between me and him.” Kagome explained.

“Ugh, I cant promise anything but I’ll try.” Sango seriously. Kagome nodded, they separated, Sesshomaru offered Kagome his clawed hand and she tiredly accepted it. He pulled her closer to him and formed his cloud.

“You aren’t being all nice because of what’s going on tonight, are you?” Kagome asked.

“I was impressed with your ways of trying to get answers, that is all. You and the taijiya seem close.” Sesshomaru commented.

“Yeah, she is my best friend, almost like a sister I guess. She sticks up for me when I don’t think I should say anything at all.” Kagome shrugs.

“And you do not think you should say anything to your father tonight?” Sesshomaru questioned.

“I think it would just be disrespectful and maybe cause problems for his new family and I don’t think I could talk to him respectfully now that I know who he is. I would probably throw a childish fit and the other youkai would think lowly of me. If he says something to me about it at the dinner table I will let him explain himself but if he does not then I wont say a word.” Kagome shrugged.

He could feel her aura, it was mixed with a lot of different emotions; anger, sadness, betrayed, maybe even a little bit of abandonment but love, it confused him greatly. Why would she still feel love toward her father. He felt all those feelings when his own father went off to save his hanyou son and his human mother but love was not there. He still held a grudge against his father for it.

“You will be assisted by Mutsumi and another servant for getting ready for the dinner.” Sesshomaru explained as they flew toward the castle.

“I will wait outside the door this time.” Sesshomaru explained.

“But what about your servants?” Kagome asked.

“They are more afraid of you, than you are of them. Look at how well Mutsumi warmed up to you within minutes?” Sesshomaru explained.

“I guess.” Kagome sounded defeated.

“Things will be fine.” Sesshomaru lowering them onto a balcony outside her room of the castle.
