It took Kagome an entire week to finally put her fears aside and decide that she needed to sit down and have a little talk with Miroku. She found the priest sitting outside of his hut meditating as he usually did in the afternoons so she sat down and waited.
Miroku opened a blue eye and glanced at Kagome who was sitting beside him fidgeting,” Can I help you Kagome-chan?”
Kagome opened her mouth and weeks full of worried thoughts poured out. When she was finished telling Miroku what she believed to be true, that she was not ageing, that time was passing her by, Miroku simply regarded her sadly.
“I’m sorry Kagome….I’m not exactly sure what is going on. I suppose it could be possible that when you refused to make a wish on the Jewel and instead reabsorbed it, the Jewel bound itself to you and made you this way.” Miroku stared at Kagome watching her distressed emotions display clearly upon her face. It wasn’t the first time that he had stared at Kagome and noticed how time didn’t seem to change her, but now looking at her knowing that she would always remain the same…well he didn’t know how he felt.
“What does that mean Miroku? It won’t let me age because it’s a part of me now?”
Miroku simply nodded slowly, fear and sadness mixing together inside of him. He didn’t know what to say to her. YES we are all going to die and all you will be able to do is watch it happen. YES you will even outlive Inuyasha probably. YES you will remain here forever.
As if she could read his mind Kagome got up from her spot and began walking into the forest. She walked until she couldn’t see the village anymore, and when the sun had finally set and there was nothing but darkness all around her she began to cry.
