The Lost Princess by Emily

Chapter 1

As I walked home on dark cloudy night, someone grabbed my arms from behind and clamped his hands over my mouth. Another person placed a cloth over my eyes so I couldn’t see. I did all I could not to panic because I didn’t know what was going on.

So princess we finally got you.” Someone whispered in my ear.

What was this man talking about? How could I be a princess? Did he not notice the clothes I was wearing were peasant clothe? Well I would have corrected them but when the man removed his hand from my mouth some kind of cloth was shoved in. as I was trying to keep calm and keep positive thoughts in my head when one of the men yelled out in anger and pain. I was dropped to the ground as the sound of fighting reached my ears. The sound did not last long and when it stopped I felt myself being pulled up into a sitting position. The cloth that was over my eyes and in my mouth was taken away. There stood the Royal Guard. This group was made up of only woman because they were to protect the Queen and the princess.

The Royal Guard was known to be extremely protective of the royal family. Not like any regular guard is but I mean like if you even look at the royal family funny and the Royal Guard see you then you can say good-bye freedom and hello jail cell.

Kagome, are you ok?” One said as she walked over to help me to my feet.

Who are you? How do you know my name and that I was in trouble?” The words stammered out of my mouth.

My name is Izayoi; I am the leader of the Royal Guard. Your mother told me to protect you from certain people.” She said.

How do you know my mother? Who are you protecting me from? You shouldn’t be protecting me when you have to protecting the Queen.” I said.

Kagome I am not the person you should be asking. We should get you back home so your mother can answer your questions.” She turned and started to walk away. When Izayoi looked back to see if I was following she noticed that I had not moved. “If you don’t hurry up then the men that tried to kidnap you will come back and I doubt they will be as gentle as they were the first time.”

With that said I ran to catch up with them. I didn’t know much about these people except for the fact that they protect the royal family and were sent to protect me for some reason. I knew they were good people unlike the men that tried to take me away for some reason.

It only took a couple of minutes to get to my house since I was almost home when I was almost kidnapped. When we arrived at my house my mother was standing on the front porch waiting for me. When she saw me and the women who escorted me, she ran from the porch and wrapped me in a hug.

Kagome are you okay?” She asked as she let me go. When I nodded she turned to Izayoi and the other women. “What happened?”

I was in shock that my mother wasn’t worried about who they were and why they followed me home. Never had she been so comfortable around people that I had brought home. Now she was just standing there listening to what Izayoi had to say as if they knew each other for a long time.

Mother do you know her?” I asked.

Yes dear I do but let us go inside where it is safer.” With that she turned and walked in the house with the Royal Guard following leaving me in the front yard by myself. After they all went in the house I started to move toward the door.

You haven’t told her have you?” Izayoi said.

There was never a good time. What was I to do, wake her up one morning and tell her ‘Morning sweetheart, you’re the lost princess. Your mother was worried that you would be kidnapped and killed so she gave you to me and told me to hide you from everyone. By the way what do you want for breakfast?’ yeah because I can totally see how that would be a good thing to tell her.” My mother said.

Kaede, you have babied her for too long. She should have been told the truth sooner.” Izayoi said again.

I was standing on the porch beside the door and heard every word they said. I couldn’t believe what I heard. I slowly opened the door and stared at the person I called my mother for the last 16 years. When she looked at me she could tell I heard everything that was said by the tears on my checks.

Kagome, listen to me. Your mother,” Kaede started.

I don’t care about my mother. What is upsetting is the fact that you kept a secret from me. You never done that, it was one of the rules we made up. We would never keep secrets from each other. I held up my end, you seemed to have failed in that area. What a great mother you are.” I ran out of the house.

When I got to the barn I turned around and noticed that no one followed me. They were probably trying to figure out a way to get me back to the castle safely. I opened the barn door and walked over to my horse and saddled her up. For some reason I could always count on Silver Moon when I was upset.

Come girl we’re out of here. There is no point staying where people keep secrets from you about your past.” I told her as I walked her out to the yard.

Princess, are you going somewhere?” A voice asked.

I looked up and there stood a girl about my age. She was wearing the same clothe as the Royal Guard. I remembered see her with the others when they saved me from the men. She had long dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. The girl was as tall as me and looked as if she could be my sister.

What’s your name?” I asked.

It’s Sango, milady.” She said.

Well Sango I am going somewhere, but where I am going is not of your concern. Now if you will excuse me.” I said as I got on Silver Moon’s saddle. Turning Silver Moon toward the forest I heard the front door to the house open. Without another thought I kick Silver Moon in the side and she darted into the dark forest.

Kagome.” I heard Kaede shout from the house. I knew that kind of scream, she was crying. I always hated it when she cried, more than ever when I was the reason behind the crying. It took all I had not to turn around and go back.

I road Silver Moon for what seemed like hours. I didn’t stop until we came upon a small pond. Once I get off of Silver Moon I take off her saddle and let her go get a drink of water. I had decided that this was the spot that we were going to stay at until sunrise. With that said and done I lay down and used the saddle as a pillow.

'An arranged marriage. They have truly lost their minds.' I turned to see where my small servant was at because I could not hear his foot steps behind me anymore. “Jaken if you do not wish to become some bandits next kill then I suggest you keep up.” I said.

Yes Prince Sesshomaru.” Jaken yelled back.

Daddy, why do you not ride your horse? Rin has to ride her's.” my daughter said.

I prefer to walk, Rin. Beside, you ride your horse because if something happened then I know you could get away before anything happened to you.” I told her.

Rin is not my blood daughter. I took her in about two years ago when I came across her being attacked by some bandits. I killed them and brought her to my castle. Once she started to talk the first word she said to anyone was daddy. Even thought I am only 27 and unmarried I am more then happy to be her father. Rin is a very smart and well behaved little girl.

Jaken go gather wood for a fire, we will be stopping for the night.” I said as I pulled Rin's horse, Dark Moon, to a stop.

Jaken ran off after bowing and I helped Rin off of Dark Moon. When I set her on the ground I told her to clear away the sticks from under one of the trees. As she did I unsaddled Dark Moon and grabbed a blanket that we have brought with.

I sat the saddle down where Rin cleared away the sticks and she layed down so I could over her up for the night. Jaken came back and started a fire then I told him to get some sleep.

My thoughts went back to who my parents have chosen for me to marry. 'A Princess of great power but does not know she is a Princess. Why can I not chose who I marry. I want someone who will love Rin no matter what not just because she is my daughter. Someone who will care for her and treat Rin as her own child.' I knew I was not going to get much sleep tonight.
