Chapter 1: Plans
It has been two years since Kagome helped the others defeat Naraku and the well closed. She is now twenty-two and is a professional historian. Right after Kagome had made the wish on the jewel, she had gotten sent back to her own time. She knew that Inuyasha was dead; otherwise he would have been there at her family shrine to greet her when she emerged, but he wasn’t.
Kagome has her own office in a museum that she helped get back on their feet. They had been about ready to close it down, but then she had talked to the CEO of the place and told him of a few ideas to raise money. Mr. Imamoto had loved it. He had then asked if she had a job, which at the time she had not, and he had hired her on the spot. Now they had tours going on every day and they were doing great financially. Every time someone mentioned a fabled treasure, she would do some research on it, and what shocked her most was that a good deal of the so called treasures could be found at her families shrine! She had talked to her grandfather a great deal about it and in the end; he had relinquished what she wanted.
Kagome has been sitting behind this desk for an hour, researching the most recent item that she had heard about, and she did not like the result. What she had heard and what she had found confirmed her fears. The most recent item that was on everyone’s list was Sesshomaru’s Tenseiga. Kagome had no idea how she was going to acquire that. There was a knock at her office door. “Enter.”
The CEO stepped in looking rather worried. “Higurashi.”
“Mr. Imamoto, what has got you so worked up?” Mr. Imamoto sat down in one of the chairs that was in front of her desk and rubbed his temples.
“We have a last minute tour, and not just any tour, but a private tour.”
Kagome didn’t see what the problem was. They had plenty of staff that would happily do the tour, private or not. “Ok.”
He finally looked at her. “Higurashi, I want you to do the tour. You are the only one that I believe will not mess up around him. He has come in the past and the women that did the tours with him drooled all over him, and he frightened the males. He says this is our last chance to redeem ourselves. Please, Higurashi, for the museum.”
Kagome smiled at her employer. “I will do the tour. When will he be here?”
“He is already here.”
Kagome nodded and stood up and brushed off her black dress pants. She followed the CEO out of her office and into the main lobby. She almost froze when she saw whom it was. Sesshomaru didn’t look any different than what he did five hundred years ago. Very few people knew about demons these days, and to see that he didn’t have his concealment spell in place, then she realized that the CEO knew what he was. She couldn’t resist playing a joke on him. They had been friends when she left. She had to try hard to keep the venom in her voice. “Sesshomaru Taisho. What a surprise.” The CEO couldn’t believe his ears. No one he ever met was able to stand up to the great taiyoukai.
Sesshomaru’s eyes widened as he recognized the onna in front of him. He thought he had lost everything from the feudal era, yet here stood the fiery miko that had somehow wormed her way in. He couldn’t tell if she was playing or not, so without thinking, he closed the distance between them and she smiled at him. “Five hundred years has not done a thing to you, Miko. We shall have to talk about that over dinner.”
Kagome giggled. He shouldn’t have called her miko. “Okay, Fluffy-sama.” Kagome watched as he rolled his eyes. Some of the staff had gathered and some of the women were shooting her death glares, for they had all tried and failed to get him to talk to them. The males were looking at her as if she was stupid and had a death wish.
Sesshomaru saw the looks Kagome was getting, especially from the other females, so he did the last thing they all expected, he picked Kagome up in a bear hug and twirled her around and nuzzled her neck. He watched as everyone’s jaw dropped, except for Kagome who was laughing at the others’ reaction. He chuckled. Only Kagome would be able to get one of those from him. She is the only one who knows the side of him that isn’t frightening.
Kagome collected herself. “Well, I suppose you are the one here for the private tour, so I guess we better get going or we might not finish.”
“Higurashi, when you are done, you may go home for the night. Just remember to check out.”
“Yes, sir.” Kagome gestured for Sesshomaru to follow her, and two hours later, they were finished, and she didn’t slip even once, not even when Sesshomaru gave her the tests that he had given the ones before her and then some. He had teased her and asked questions, just to see if she would falter, but before they had even began, he knew that she wouldn’t. When the onna set her mind on something, she could not be persuaded otherwise.
They were walking back through the exhibits and he decided that he had to ask. “Kagome, what are you doing this weekend?”
Kagome thought for a second, going over her days. “Well, besides going to my brother’s soccer game, I have nothing planned.”
Sesshomaru smiled at her and could sense the other women right around the corner, eavesdropping on them. “Well, how would you like to spend the weekend getting to reacquaint one another?”
Kagome giggled. “How about Sunday?”
Sesshomaru smirked. “Now, Miko, I said weekend not one day. I will even go with you to the soccer game. Plus considering this is Friday, then that means the rest of your time for the afternoon and the evening, is mine.”
Kagome knew she wasn’t going to talk him out of it. He was a master manipulator. “Fine, but if you want to come to the game, you are going to have to convince Souta to let you come.”
