"The West has been my home for a long time now, Kagome. I admit that I was not loath to part from it if it meant being with you, but that is no longer an option. I will return to the West because I have nowhere else to go," Aoi repeated in the same unyielding tone despite the scalding scent of her tears clinging to his skin like slow fire.
"That's not true – you can stay with me," Kagome tried again waveringly.
"And where will you stay?" Aoi returned with a bitter smile, his indigo gaze darkening with knowing despondency.
