Yesterday is History...
Kagome sighed as she looked into the depths of the well, sadness flowing off her slim form. She had been in such a hurry to see if the well was working again, she hadn't really thought about the fact that it might not allow more than a one way trip.
“Would it have really changed my mind though?”
Her soft whisper wasn't meant to be heard by anyone, and she certainly didn't expect to find the answer in the depths of silence pooling in her soul. Her fingers trailed across the rough whorls of the well's lip with bitter fondness as she thought about her family on the other side.
'I'll probably never see them again...' she thought hollowly, ignorant to the tepid quicksilver drops trembling on the precipice of her dark lashes. Closing her dull gray eyes, the young woman sucked in a fortifying breath before turning her back on the structure that had served as the portal between her time and the Feudal Era in which she now found herself.
“No regrets.”
With that though in mind, she straightened her shoulders, walking away from the well and the future for her uncertain present in the past.

Author's Note: Okay, so it's not even funny how many other project's I have going on right now, but this was just pressing against the back of my mind so... here it is. I have no clue where this story is going, although I can warn that there will probably be a lot of character reflection because that's how I'm feeling. So yeah...
