Kagome garbed herself in one of her new yukatas. The delicate material was a blessing and has taken off considerable weight from her shoulders and waist. She held onto the old kimono, having plans to use the fabric for a makeshift bed; it would remove some of the discomforts and nightly chills. It was strange Sesshomaru still haven’t extracted the furry pelt from her temporary possession, but if he didn’t collect it soon, she wouldn’t mind using it as another source of warmth.
Her stomach grumbled. It’s been several hours since her last forage for food; however it was too dangerous now to scavenge any source of edible nourishments without something lurking. It’s usually around this time that Sesshomaru disappears, she didn’t know where; he just got up and left.
But this night was different, he returned with a rabbit kit. It was a rather gruesome sight, and the body continued to spasm, sending squirts of blood everywhere. Her stomach churned unpleasantly at the sight and metallic stench emitting from the carcass. “Can’t you do that somewhere else?” She asked, a deep frown gracing her face when Sesshomaru started disemboweling the small creature. But of course, he ignored her, taking large quantities of the flesh and leaving some meager sustenance for her to consume before turning away from her. It was nice; it would have been great if there was a fire to cook the meat. Kagome walked around, collecting pieces of leaves and breaking small, flimsy twigs to do a campfire. She had the materials gathered, but she was stumped on how to produce a flame due to her size. “Um Sesshomaru…” She called out, halting the demon’s movement from the rabbit. “Do you know how to start a fire?”
Seconds passed before Sesshomaru approached her, claws bloody and a furrow between his brows. He analyzed the leaves and twigs, leaving once more into the wilderness. Just as he left quickly, he returned shortly after, carrying a different set of twigs and some dry, crinkled leaves. He dropped them at her feet and resumed his previous task. She could only stare, flabbergasted by the act of generosity. Maybe he feels bad about sending me off to my impending death. She mused, taking the material and frantically rubbing the twigs together, producing sparks and a fire seconds later. She gave a noise of excitement and started skewing the pieces of meat onto a straight sprig. She wished she had some spices to flavor the meat, but beggars can’t be choosers.
The tearing of flesh continued well into the night, and after devouring her meal with fervor, she refused to look at Sesshomaru. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out how brutishly he was feasting.
