Disclaimer: Though it saddens me to say it, I don’t own anything relating to Takahashi-sensei’s Inuyasha. However, the plot and/or ideas of this drabble series do belong to me.

Chapter 82: Safeguard
Kagome glanced down at their entwined hands, smiling tenderly at the tall male at her side. Noticing her gaze, Sesshoumaru’s eyes softened–a look reserved only for her, his true love. She was his life, his own reason for being.
He knew she was incredibly humbled by the thought of having the heart of such a man in the palm of her hand. So great was the amount of trust he had in her–faith in her to keep it safe against those that would be willing to crush it for a position of power. Vulnerability was never one of Sesshoumaru’s strong suits. Though he had accepted this, for no one–even the gods–was infallible, his heart was fragile and had the potential to bleed if the opportunity had ever presented itself. And it had a few times, if he had ever cared to remember them, which he didn’t.
Not anytime soon, anyway.
