Kagome stared at the ground as her and InuYasha strolled through the snow-covered forest. It was her first Christmas away from home and she honestly didn’t know what to do. She missed having a Christmas tree to decorate and the lights that were strung about on every house.

InuYasha could smell her deepening depression and spun around to look at her. His eyes narrowed as he studied her. She continued to walk while looking down not even noticing he stopped.

“Oi, wench. What’s wrong with you now?”

Kagome’s head snapped up as she stopped walking. She glared at him and said, “It’s nothing. I’m fine.” She rolled her eyes. He really had a way to get under her skin without even realizing it. “It’s my first Christmas here since the well sealed. It just doesn’t feel right.”

InuYasha eyes softened as he walked up to her. “Well, what to you think we should do? I’m not sure what this Christmas is.”

Kagome’s eyes shone with happiness and her aura brightened. “Well, for starter’s we need a tree. A pine tree to be exact and we need ornaments!” she exclaimed.

InuYasha’s ears flattened as he realized what he had started. Nothing was stopping Kagome once she was determined. “Where do I get those or-na-mints or whatever they’re called?” he said sounding out the word for the first time.

“We can get planks of wood to paint on. That will be just fine,” she said grinning.

“Oh, okay. Then what?” InuYasha said a little skeptical of everything.

“Well, we invite everyone over! We need to have a Christmas party so gifts can be given.”

“We all live in the same village.” InuYasha replied raising an eyebrow at her statement.

“Everyone. That includes Ayame, Koga, Rin, Jaken, and your brother.” Once again, she smiled sweetly while InuYasha paled.

“Ain’t no way in hell are we inviting my stupid half brother here!” InuYasha yelled at her. He took a defensive stance once he realized his mistake.

Kagome huffed and glared. “We’re inviting him because it’s the nice thing to do! Plus, I know Rin misses him!”

InuYasha’s confidence boosted once again. “No! I refuse to budge on this!”

Kagome glared before she uttered, “sit,” making InuYasha fall flat on the ground.

“We are inviting him whether you like it or not.” Kagome skipped along the path leaving a sputtering hanyou in her wake.
