Dogs on Monogamy by Knight of Disorder

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha

Rubbing her temple as she shifted on the seat once more, she was both physically and emotionally uncomfortable. Wincing when she moved again, “god Inuyasha! SHUT THE FUCK UP!” The shirt she’d pulled over her shoulders, she noted absently, was Sesshoumaru’s. The pants, she assumed were probably left over from one of his ex’s.

Inuyasha’s eyes went wide, his wife never cussed. Not once since he’d met her had she even noted that she even knew the words existed. Ducking his head, trying to avoid the ire that was now radiating off her like she was the sun. “Why did you do it,” he asked again quietly.

Snapping her eyes to him, “shut up! Let me think for a damn second!” No, her head wasn’t throbbing anymore but her husband’s shouting wasn’t helping her mood. Glancing loosely towards the other two who’d seemed to be in much the same mind as herself. Well, one of them was.

Touga was trying to not be there, he’d not said a word since he woke up. Said good morning to her and then snapped his mouth shut. Not opening his mouth when asked a question, just nodding slightly, or shaking his head.

Inuyasha opened his mouth again, ready to say something when those furious blue eyes landed on him again. He could see in them the threat of just what she would do if he voiced a single word. Snapping his jaw shut, scowling and muttering under his breath.

“Touga,” the cold vindictiveness she spoke his name with caught his attention instantly. “Tell me, when you invited me over for dinner, did you plan something like this?” The slight raising of a single dark brow and piercing coldness of her eyes more startling than the question.

Pressing his lips together, muscles in his jaw twitching with the strength he clenched his jaw. This was the moment, it would either make or break the tenuous relationship they now had. So, to the crux of the situation, had he planned it? Rolling it back and forth, that was a good question. He had assumed something might happen, it always seemed to when he was drunk. So did that imply planning?

“I-” he was cut off.

“Tell me the truth,” the smirk that curled across Kagome’s lips made Touga run pale. Glancing at his son who was quite simply staring at the woman in astonishment. That smile, which Sesshoumaru had used so many times in the past, meant a bloodbath. “The truth,” she repeated, “or,” motioning in the general direction of his crotch, “that is going to be purified.”

“I might have had an idea that it would happen,” ducking his head, waiting for screaming. When none came he glanced back up.

Kagome held a single hand to her shoulder, where there were now faint blue marks. “You’re already mated, so,” trailing off, “how?”

“Ah, those will go away. Since I didn’t actually,” raising his brow hoping she remembered enough of the night before.

Kagome’s brows drew down, “what-,” Sesshoumaru cut her off.

“Surely you know what he’s talking about, there are only so many places that one can put their penis,” at her wide eyed expression he smirked slightly.

Shifting again, nearly choking on the air when she pulled at an already overstretched muscle. “I’m going to kill you two,” she hissed. Setting her eyes firmly on Sesshoumaru, “what about you? Did you intend any of it?”

Tipping his head to the side, “I wasn’t even aware you would be arriving until you did.”

“And this,” tigging the shoulder of the massive shirt aside to reveal the deep magenta marks which graced her opposite shoulder. It’s not that she didn’t know what they were, she knew. They were actually the only parts that didn’t hurt her.

Sesshoumaru tipped his head to the side revealing dark pink marks, “a reaction,” as an afterthought, “to taking an untouched woman to bed and to the marking she gave me.”

“You bastard,” Inuyasha roared. Shooting up from his seat, his voice rising high in the air much to the dismay of the other three members of the room. Seeming to calm suddenly, tapping his finger against the counter quickly as he looked back and forth between them once more. His wife, who was supposed to be his mate, was now mated to his brother. His father however already had a mate, a smirk playing on his lips.

Touga paled when his son pulled out the slim black phone, “what are you doing?”

“Calling Yomiko,” Inuyasha answered back. No longer paying attention to his stricken father when the phone started ringing, “yeah. Yomiko?”

“What is it Inu?”

“Could you come over to Sesshoumaru’s?” Leaning back against the counter.

“Why? I had an appointment to get my hair done. I don’t want to miss it.”

“I think you’d better postpone it, I don’t want to talk about it over the phone but it’s important.” Rolling his eyes once more towards his pale father, oh god that expression is priceless.

“Okay, I’ll see you in a little bit.” The line dying a moment later.

“Now that I’ve dealt with that, I need a private moment with my wife,” swinging his eyes towards Kagome who was just staring at him with an expression that spoke infinitely of her current level of patience.

Oh hell no was she spending more than a moment alone with Inuyasha just this moment. She wasn’t stupid, while demons were rare now a days, she was still taught everything her grandfather knew about them. One was this, once a woman mated she didn’t leave the side of her mate for more than a few minutes at a time. If she did than any male could easily put their mark over it.

While that in itself didn’t bother her, she would have let him if she wasn’t already aware of how Inuyasha was when he was angry. “No, I think I’ll stay right here. If you want to talk, we can do that here.”

“Woman,” he hissed at her.

“Inuyasha,” the cold tones of his brother broke his focus, “she’s afraid you would harm her.”

Dumbfounded he glanced between them, “what the fuck are you talking about?”

Sighing slightly, leaning his cheek on the palm of his hand. “Your instincts are telling you to take her and mark her. To do that you’d have to first separate her from me, than have sex with her. That act, as you should know, would hurt her a great deal.”

“Then she shouldn’t have fucked you!”

“She was hardly of her right mind,” he intoned blandly.

Screaming match or no, the argument wasn’t getting them anywhere. So Sesshoumaru, Touga, and Kagome had taken to just ignoring the ranting of Inuyasha. Kagome, because she’d heard enough of his yelling to tune it out. Sesshoumaru, because he’d heard their combined yelling for the three nights before this incident. Touga, because he had raised the flighty pup.

Kagome didn’t really want to remain mated to Sesshoumaru, it wasn’t her first choice. Glancing at Inuyasha, well at least she had one this time. Ever since her grandfather and Touga had met the first time, she’d seem to lose the ability to choose. Her marriage was nothing but the old dog hoping to find some way to tie his pup down, and her grandfather was counting on her dowery to keep the shrine in the green.

Sesshoumaru didn’t care. Regardless of how things turned out, if they remained near each other for the rest of the day and no other male replaced his own mark than he would be mated. Although slightly unwillingly, it wasn’t really a bad thing. The girl was, different. Not so much that she stood out but enough so that life wouldn’t be boring. All that remained was the fact that she was married to his brother.

“So I guess I’ll be getting a divorce,” Kagome spoke off hand. She hadn’t really thought about it but she knew it would look bad on her. On her family as well, they were very traditional.

“Why would you do that,” Touga asked glancing at his youngest who seemed to be ignoring her for all she was worth.

“Well, my grandfather knows a lot about demons. Since I’m essentially mated to Sesshoumaru, I can’t get pregnant by anyone else. Not to mention that since he’s mated to me,” waving her hand in the general direction of his marred shoulder, “he won’t be able to do much in the way of getting it up with another woman.”

Sesshoumaru looked up, “so you would have to marry me,” his words hanging in the air. He expected her to be hysterical this morning, really. When he’d woken to her mumbled words he’d been surprised.

The shouting could be ignored, the hand which kept pushing at him couldn’t though. Again and again it shoved him, deeper into the mattress. “Sessho-kun,” the whine was low, “aspirin.” Again the hand pushed at him, groaning, “please Sessho-kun,” the voice whined again.

Shoving himself up, ignoring the attention that was paid to him. Ignoring his own nudity as he brushed past his little brother, seeking out the cabinet in the kitchen in which he stored the few human medicines he used. His brother on his heels the whole time, rubbing his forehead. Finding the small bottle, dumping some of the pills in his hand. Eyeing them blearily before tossing two in his mouth.

“Oi, answer me you prick!”

Waving off his younger brother, slowly moving back towards the bed with what he assumed was two pills in his hand. Dropping onto the side holding out his hand, “here.”

Groaning as she grabbed the pills from his hand and tossing them in her mouth, “can I have something to wear? I can’t find my skirt,” her words as mumbled and fuzzy as they were in her head.

Kagome glanced at Sesshoumaru, than towards her fuming husband. “It would probably be for the best, right? As far as demons are concerned we’re already together,” sighing softly when she heard the growl from behind her. “I don’t want to hear it Inuyasha.”

“What the hell is your problem woman, you’re my wife!” Rising up his chest puffing out.

“Yeah,” turning sharply on him. Rising up off her own seat, “you screamed and whined for the last three days! I’m sorry that I have a deadline to meet, it doesn’t mean you couldn’t have marked me before we left!” Growling impressively considering her humanity, “you wanted it to be special, you wanted this, you wanted that. You know what! I didn’t want to marry you!”

“Actually, if it hadn’t been to help my mom and grandpa I would have told you to start walking the moment I met you. All I ever hear out of your fucking mouth is what you what, what you think, you, you, you, you! I don’t give a shit you, you self centered son of a bitch,” taking a breath, “no you’re not even a son of bitch you damn half-breed!”

Feeling that she’d snubbed him enough she spun on her heel and nearly stomped back to her seat. Doing her best to ignore the snubbed half-demon and his sputtering father.

All three dogs stared at her, one in new found admiration, one in shock, the third in dismay. “Kagome,” Touga spoke softly. Cringing when her eyes turned on him, “ah, well, I understand that you’re a little angry right now bu-”

“No, stop right there. Don’t even act like you didn’t have a say in it, my grandpa told me. You and him agreed on it, I would marry your youngest son and you would pay him a small fortune. I went along with it because we were about to lose the shrine, I won’t anymore.” Huffing slightly as she tried to calm herself, “I,” she paused, “no I haven’t married him yet.”

“What are you talking about Kagome,” Sesshoumaru was rather amused. His little slip of a female, human though she was, had just told off his father and his little brother like they were nothing.

“I stamped the paperwork but,” thinking for a moment, “I think it’s still with my manuscript. I still have two chapters to finish and put in the mail. So I was going to drop them in the box at the same time.” Watching the half-demon twitch, “Inuyasha if you so much as move from that seat, I’ll purify you.”

“Ha, you can’t.” He oozed confidence, “you’re not a virgin anymore. No more powers for you,” chuckling as he pushed himself up content that he could walk back over and pick up the paperwork.

“Sesshoumaru, you know, if he sends that paperwork out. Then I won’t be able to marry you legally for ten years because of the prenup your father had me sign,” not turning her eyes from Inuyasha. “That would be bad wouldn’t it, the rest of your kind would look down on you for mating another’s wife.” Shrugging slightly when she felt the air in the room change.

“Inuyasha,” the air seemed to cool several degrees, “sit down.”

“Hell no! I’m going to send that paperwork off, then I’ll break your mating just like the old man has everyone before.” He didn’t even turn completely before a pale hand curled in the collar of his shirt.

Sesshoumaru pulled, flinging his little brother towards the opposite side of the room. Ready to open his mouth again, only stopping at the soft rapping against his front door. Growling low before remembering the call that had been made earlier. Turning on his heel quickly, when he returned with the dark haired woman in tow he wasted not a moment returning to place himself between his brother and the hallway.

“So what is it that’s so important Inu,” smiling softly as she leaned down to kiss her husband. “What’s happen Touga? It’s not often that you’re all together.”

“Ah, about that,” Touga hedged. He was trying to come up with some excuse, knowing it wasn't going to work. His son would spill it if he wouldn’t. “You see, I might have slept with the little priestess last night.” At the sharp look from both of his sons, “okay, I did sleep with the little priestess last night but just anal. Everything else was Sesshoumaru.”

Yomiko seemed a little odd at first then turned to look at the the other three members of the room. Setting her eyes on Kagome, “is this true?”

Letting out a breath, “I don’t really remember, but it seems so.”

“You don’t remember,” Yomiko spoke as if surprised.

Glancing towards the empty bottles which were still sitting on the table, “I thought it would pretty easy to tell.”

“Oh,” glancing at Touga, “did you plan this?”

Touga opened his mouth, glancing between the two women, then snapped his jaw shut and nodded.

Sighing she pressed her forehead into her hand, “I can’t say I didn’t expect it. Mimi was a close friend of mine, she told me you weren’t, really, the best choice of husband.” Pursing her lips before letting another sigh past her lips, “I suppose I can forgive you this time. I won’t be doing it again, if I find out next time I’ll invoke infidelity clause in our prenup.”

Touga nodded quickly unwilling to open his mouth again lest he put his foot in it once more, she might have been his fifth but she was the only one that didn’t hate to do housework. She actually liked cleaning and cooking, even if she scolded him like he was a child.

“What are you going to do Kagome?” Yomiko eyed the woman, she wasn’t stupid. The girl had refrained from moving either arm much, and heard well enough about the arguments. Her eyes dancing between the two males, settling finally on Sesshoumaru when she noticed the glance from Kagome.

“I’m going to marry him, since I haven’t sent of the finished paperwork yet.”

“Ah, a good idea. I’ll make sure Touga pays a decent dowry,” glancing back at her own nodding husband. Sighing again, this was going to be a problem. “You don’t mind do you, being forced into another marriage?”

“I wasn’t really forced into the first one, I went willingly so my family wouldn’t lose the shrine. This one, well it’s a little for me too. I want kids eventually, and thanks to this, “reaching up and resting a palm across her shoulder, “he’s the only one that can give them to me. That’s when I feel comfortable enough letting any man even close to me again.”

“They didn’t,” trailing off as their conversation excluded everyone else.

“No, I remember enough to know that I let them.” Letting her shoulder slump slightly, “as for breaking it,” eyeing the half-demon whose ears perked up, “I don’t really see a reason to. Sessho-kun seems to be fine with it, so I don’t mind either.”

“At least I won’t have to go down the aisle again,” turning her eyes away from Inuyasha and onto Sesshoumaru. When he nodded she let out a breath she wasn’t sure she’d been holding. “I just have to break it to Momma, she’s not going to be happy at all.”

“What do you mean,” the first male voice for some time. “You were not legally married, why would she care?”

“Well, Momma is... she’s very traditional. The fact that I walked down the aisle once means that I should be with Inuyasha even if I didn’t sign the paperwork.” Finally standing walking towards Sesshoumaru, “I’ve gotta get back to work, but can we talk later?”

Peering at her, as though he was thinking it over. Nodding, “we can.”

“Good, I’ll see you later than. I have to finish the last couple chapters and get them in the mail, then I’ll stop by.” Smiling slightly as she gave into the need to limp, it lessened the pain just a little. “My editor is going to kill me,” she mumbled as she pulled the door closed behind her.

It seemed Inuyasha hadn’t calmed in the least. Sesshoumaru quickly closed the distance between them, “the mating cannot be broken unless we both wish it. She has been near me long enough to set the mark, should you try to remove it,” leaning down until he was nose to nose with his little brother, “I will make sure you no longer have what is needed to share your bed with a woman.”

“Fuck you,” he hissed turning quickly away. Dropping into a chair, his own anger barely simmering.

“I didn’t take anything from you little brother, you didn’t take care of her. She came here, she willingly went to bed with me. If you treated her better, or focused a little on her then things might have been different.” When Inuyasha didn’t say anything he looked back towards his step-mother, “I trust you’ll wish to do something for her.”

“Of course, I didn’t get to throw her a bachelorette party before because Touga was so intent on them getting married quickly. This time I intend to do something,” clapping her hands together with a warm smile.

---000---

Staring at the papers, there was a small pile. Each one stamped by both parties, the envelope left torn in a pile at the end of her desk. She wasn’t legally married, even if her mother didn’t like it, she didn’t have to put up with him anymore. At least as Sesshoumaru’s wife she’d have the time to do what she needed, her editor wouldn’t yell at her because her husband’s, or fiance’s as it were, complaining.

Tearing the the first of the papers in half, she didn’t stop. One after the other was torn into small pieces and pushed into the trashcan at the end of the desk, turning her eyes on the keyboard which lay before her. Reaching out she lifted up the phone, listening quietly as it rang. “Hello, yes, it’s Kagome.”

“You’re cutting it close,” the male voice on the other end of the phone was soft.

“I know Miroku, I need a few days. Something came up, I have everything but the last couple chapters. I can send it to you in the meantime if you want.”

“That would be glorious, it’ll take awhile to start. So long as you get us the last two chapters before we finish editing what you’ve already sent us then it’ll be no problem.” A light chuckle, “how goes your marriage?”

“Ah, that’s what this is about. I’m not officially married, though I’m going to be soon. To his older, full demon brother.” Leaning back in her chair, using the headrest to hold the phone to her ear.

“Should I call Sango, she’d be more than happy to help you out,” chuckling at the gasp that echoed over the phone.

“No, it’s fine. I don’t mind so much,” tapping her finger on the table, “I am going to be having a bachelorette party this time. Yomiko wanted to throw me one last time but Touga was against it, so this time seeing as how this all happened I don’t think he’ll say much.”

“Oh,” his voice rose slightly, “and what happened?”

It was impossible to miss the way he said that, “stop right there. You might be thinking close to the right thing but you’re way off.”

“A threesome with your husband’s brother and father?”

There was a long silence, “how do you do that?”

“You called him Touga, you’ve called him Tou-san everytime before now. And you implied that Yomiko was going to get her way which means he did something stupid, then there’s the fact that you’re marrying the older brother. It’s not hard to put together.”

Groaning, “only you would put it together like that though.”

“True, so you want me to let Sango know she needs to stop by?”

“That’d be great, and I’ll drop what I got done in the mail today.” Smiling slightly.

“Good, I trust you’ll have the rest of it before the end of next week.”

“Of course."

AN: I know it might be a little repetative but I still like it. There's one more. Sometime tomorrow. Then it'll be back to one shots. How many I'll post between now and the start of Nano I have no idea but there's a good chance there will be a lot of them.
